Extracurricular activities under Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology
KNIT, Sultanpur has a proper Council of Student Activities (CSA) which aims to promote and develop the extra-curricular interests of the students. The CSA is responsible for organising various games, sports, exhibitions, and other such activities. Besides this, the council also publishes a magazine and a newspaper. The work of each council is managed by a proper team that consists of a council convener, faculty members, a student secretary, and student members. The performance of students in various activities not only helps them to develop their extra-curricular personality but also gets evaluated and awarded under the heading "General Proficiency". General Proficiency is a provision of marks under the curriculum which are awarded on the basis of general performance, behaviour, discipline, and participation in various activities.
These councils give the students an opportunity to get to know their juniors as well as seniors who share similar interests. They will help to develop leadership skills in students and help them to understand management better. By being a part of any of these councils and taking part in activities, the students can better utilise their time and gain confidence over time.
There are a total of 5 sub-councils under the Council of Students' Activities. Students are required to join at least two of the following councils as per their choice:
- Sports Council
- Cultural Council
- Literary Council
- Photography and Fine Arts Club
- Hobby Club
Professional Activities
Every discipline has a professional forum providing opportunities for exposition to students. Each forum is governed by an executive body elected by the students. The popular activities arranged by the forums are debates, group discussions, I.Q. tests, literary activities, tours, professional/inspirational talks by eminent people, etc. The students can join various societies and forums, namely:

- Computer Society of India: The Computer Society of India is a non-profit organisation in India that represents computer professionals. The students can apply for a membership and can attend the professional meetings arranged to exchange views and information to learn and share.
- Civil Engineering Forum: The Civil Engineering Forum helps students interact with fellow civil engineers and address the issues that concern them.
- Jagriti-Service to Society: By being a part of the Jagriti mission, the students can contribute towards the marginalised and economically weaker sections of society. 4) Mechanical Engineering Forum: Just like the Civil Engineering Forum, the Mechanical Engineering Forum is another group of fellow students who can come together and participate in the discussion.
- Electrical Engineering Forum: The Electrical Engineering Forum is similar to any other Mechanical and Civil Engineering Forums with a concern related to Electrical Engineers’ problems.
- Indian Society of Technical Education: The Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) is another non-profit organisation that helps students and teachers develop their careers and personalities. Moreover, it is also responsible for the overall development of the Technical Education system.
- Institution of Engineers of India (IEI): The Institution of Engineers (IEI) is a multidisciplinary professional engineering body. IEI promotes the general advancement of engineering and its applications.
- FORONIX-Forum for Electronics Engineering: Through the Forum for Electronics Engineering (FORONIX), students can have a general discussion about the topics related to their concerns.
- Indian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of India (IEEE) is the world’s largest technical professional association with more than 423,000 members in over 160 countries. Being a member of IEEE, students can gain access to technical innovation, cutting-edge information, and networking opportunities.
