Overcoming Challenges with Determination: My Journey at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies

2 mins readUpdated on Jul 31, 2024 17:38 IST

First of all, I would like to share how I decided to pursue law after 12th. I took humanities after 10th because I always wanted to go into civil services. Through studying Humanities, I got a crisp hold on many important subjects like Geography, History and Economics. I was a fun-loving yet sincere child in my school. So, after choosing to pursue Humanities in my senior secondary education, I decided why not to pursue law as it would be of great help to me in future. Thereby, I decided to pursue law for my further studies, i.e. graduation.

Admission at MAIMS, IPU

Being a first-generation lawyer, I knew nothing about law as a field of study, I asked many people, researched about it on Google and much more. Thereafter, I took CLAT and was admitted to MAIMS college, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies in the first go only. Since, MAIMS is under IPU, thus, after giving CLAT, I appeared for IPU counselling and then was allotted the college in the first round itself.

College Life at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies

I joined college in October 2022, I still remember my first day in college, I was very nervous as it was the first time that I stepped out of my comfort boundaries. In the first year of my college, I was a very serious student and a regular one. I used to go to college every day. The enrollment process was also not complicated. Slowly, teachers also started to know me. I used to hang out with my friends at least once a month. The faculty is very cooperative. The only thing that is annoying is the travelling as it takes 2 hours to reach college which means 4-5 hours of my day goes to travelling only. In Summer, it becomes hectic as the weather is very hot and travelling sucks. I joined NCC as I told above that I always wanted to join civil services so I thought law and NCC also. They both will be of great help to me in future. NCC helps to keep me in discipline and keeps me free from any sort of distraction. My schedule after joining college and NCC also has become very tight but it has its positive side also as now my life knows its direction.

Is Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies (MAIMS) good for B.A.?

Here's what current students and alumni have to say:

* Course curriculum: While some students appreciate the relevance of the curriculum, others find it "basic" and not industry-ready.
* Teaching quality: Faculty members are considered knowledgeable, helpful, and approachable. They're willing to clarify doubts and provide additional guidance.
* Placement scenario: Placements aren't particularly strong, with most companies offering sales jobs with lower salaries. It's recommended to explore external opportunities alongside attending campus drives.
* Campus life: MAIMS provides a good campus experience, with various events, clubs, and societies catering to diverse interests.
* Infrastructure: The college boasts modern classrooms, libraries, and recreational facilities, making it a pleasant learning environment.
* Economics focus: For those interested in economics, MAIMS seems to deliver, with opportunities to engage with the subject through coursework and extracurricular activities.

In summary, while MAIMS may not excel in terms of placement opportunities, its strengths lie in its academic offerings, supportive faculty, and vibrant campus culture. However, it's essential for aspiring students to weigh these factors against their individual priorities and career aspirations before making an informed decision.
