In an exclusive interaction with Shiksha.com, Head of BTech Department at Apeejay Stya University Dr Sudhakar Ranjan talks extensively about the new age BTech specialisations, i.e. Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence. These specialisations are most sought after courses with huge demand in the industry in today’s world. As these courses are offered in collaboration with Oracle, experts from the company visit the campus to deliver lectures to the students. And, these kinds of interactions with industry experts boost students' morale and give them a sense of what industry expects from them.
Dr Ranjan is PhD-degree holder from YMCAUST, Faridabad and has over 20 years of academic experience in emerging technologies such as Big Data, Hadoop & Cloud Computing.

Q: What is the difference between the teaching methodology in your institute and others?

A: Apeejay Stya University has always focused on pedagogies that have supported the teaching & learning in every phase of advancement. Q: What quality do your students have which other college students lack?

Q: Do you think the curriculum of the courses taught in your institute fits in the requirement of the industry?

A: The BTech CSE course specialisation in Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with Oracle is in itself the most advanced course meeting the requirements of the industry and making students absolutely ready for it. The hands-on training by the experts from the Oracle itself makes it, even more, assuring that students are well trained and prepared to meet the challenges in the future. The course is also updated quite regularly keeping in mind the industry requirement and high education needs. The mark to market concept makes each course curriculum and the teaching methodologies updated and revised time to time.  

Q: Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship?

A: Yes, our university is receptive to all the changes. Apeejay Stya University is already equipped with the latest teaching-learning pedagogies, incorporating the best ICT practices. The campus has state-of-the-art infrastructure including a Wi-Fi enabled campus with 24/7 broadband internet access. Research at ASU has its base at the graduate level.  Faculty and students enrol in SWAYAM courses from time to time to upgrade themselves. About 20 per cent weightage is given to online courses in the students’ course curriculum. SOET department has established an MHRD sponsored Institution Innovation Council (IIC), which gives a platform to foster the culture of innovation and MSME approved Incubation Centre.
