Career as Banking Ombudsman
Banking Ombudsman work under the aegis of the Reserve Bank of India under the Banking Ombudsman Scheme which came into effect in January 2006. The prime objective for the scheme is to improve the relationship between the Bank and Customer. When issues are not satisfactorily resolved by a bank, the customer approaches the Banking Ombudsman, who sorts out and facilitates speedy settlement of the grievances.

Job Profile
- Mediate to resolve pending disputes between the bank and its customer following legal guidelines, industry codes and a fair approach.
- Assess the merit of the case
- Make a detailed interpretation of the case
- Write a document giving details of the way the issue can be resolved
- Investigate in detail the issues raised within disputes
- Prepare an independent assessment of the merits of a dispute
- Play the role of facilitator to negotiate between the parties engaged in a dispute where needed
- Communicate effectively to a wide range of stakeholders in clear language.
