- Work in different size and type of establishments
- Confer with company officials to discuss the specific task and determine the type of computer system a company requires
- Create systems design and use applications to ensure efficient data flow
- Code, test and install new databases and ensure operational efficiency
- Modify and test the database structure for efficiency
- Manage technical and physical aspects of the database carrying out regular updates and bug fixes
- Have a robust backup system in place
- Ensure security of computer operations and data from unauthorized users
- Supervise computer room operations
- Conduct training of personnel
