  • Are involved in the several activities involved in the recovery of oil and natural gas
  • Develop drilling plans, ascertain the commercial viability of exploration of an oil well
  • Work in specialist capacities as reservoir engineer, drilling engineer, production engineer
  • As reservoir engineers they estimate the best methods of oil exploration from oil reservoir to ensure commercial productivity
  • As drilling engineers they work with the geoscientists to design drilling operations, determine the drilling procedure and supervise the process of drilling
  • As production engineers they select the equipments method, and conduct preliminary tests, decide on stimulation techniques to optimize oil recovery from the reservoir
  • Design new equipment for drilling as well as oil well machinery

**JEE( Joint Entrance Examination) selects students for admission to various engineering colleges in India. There are 2 different exams JEE Main and JEE Advanced.  JEE Main is conducted by CBSE while JEE-Advanced is conducted by different IITs as decided on  rotation basis.

JEE-Mains selects students for admission to BE or B.Tech courses, Integrated MSc’s, B.Arch/B.Planning courses in the NITs, IIITs and all GFTIs (Government – Center & State Funded Technical Institutes).

JEE-Advanced Students qualifying JEE Mains through the prescribed cut-off marks are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced score is required for admission into the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) , ISM-Dhanbad, Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).

JEE Main Exam Pattern- There are 2 papers 

Paper 1-Engineering Entrance Exam for B.Tech/B.E.( 3 hrs objective test on PCM of Class XII level) The test has negative marking. Exam can be taken as a paper pencil test or online.

Paper 2-Architecture Entrance exam for B. Arch/ B.Planning. This is a 3 hr paper and has 3 parts.

Objective test PCM, Aptitude Test, Drawing test

Eligibility: XII PCM from a recognised Board, minimum aggregate 75% or in the top 20 percentile in the XII examination.(65% for Sc/ST)

 University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun Admission criteria is as follows

B. Tech. Exam Pathway (up to 80% Seat distribution) - Minimum 60% in 10th & 12th & Minimum 60% aggregate in PCM.- UPES Engineering Aptitude Test

Non-Exam Pathway (up to 20% Seat distribution) - Merit in XII /Minimum 80% in 10th & 12th/Minimum 80% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in XII OR

JEE Main Scores -Minimum 60% marks 10th & 12th/ Minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in 12th JEE Mains cut off 70 and above for applying for a UPES B.Tech program .

M.Tech Petroleum Engineering-Minimum 60% in 10th & 12th  B. Tech /BE in Petroleum/ Gas Engineering/ Petroleum Refining/ Petrochemical Engineering/ Geo Science/Mechanical/ Chemical or M.Sc. in Geology with minimum 60% marks
