The specific college they are targeting is Aditya Institute of Technology and Management (AITAM), which is a second tier university. The first tier institutions are the one which generally are ranked better nationally or internationally, have bigger research resources, more real life industry linkages and known for their academics and placements. As for the actual rating of AITAM, yes it may not be categorized under Tier 1 institutions but it does provide quality education, industry focused curriculums, persistent faculty and moderate placement prospects. While tiers can be categorically defined, there can be great differences in how they are defined and perceived thus the need to consider other indicators in relation to accreditation, infrastructure, faculty staff quality, and alumni’s perception on the quality and standing of an institution such as AITAM.
