If you are a physiotherapy student and want to join the Indian Army, there are a few options available for you.
1. Short Service Commission SSC The Indian Army offers SSC opportunities for physiotherapists, where you can serve as a commissioned officer for a short period of time (5-10 years) depending on the service requirements.
2. Permanent Commission (PC) - You can also opt for a Permanent Commission in the Indian Army, which offers a long-term career in the Armed Forces.
3. NCC Special Entry - The Indian Army also offers a special entry scheme for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets. However, NCC is not mandatory to join the Indian Army. Here is the procedure to apply for SSC or PC in the Indian Army as a physiotherapist:
1. Eligibility Criteria: You must meet the eligibility criteria set by the Indian Army, such as age, educational qualification, and physical fitness standards.
2. Application: You can apply for SSC or PC through the official Indian Army website or through the Employment News/Rozgar Samachar.
3. Selection Process: The selection process involves a written exam, physical fitness test, medical examination, and Personal Interview . The written exam tests your knowledge in general awareness, English language, and your professional field (in this case, physiotherapy).
4. Training: Once selected, you will undergo rigorous training at one of the Indian Army training centers.
5. Commission: After successful completion of the training, you will be commissioned as an officer in the Indian Army. Apart from the above options, you can also explore opportunities in the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) as a physiotherapist. The AFMS offers both SSC and PC opportunities to healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists. I would suggest that you visit the official Indian Army website or contact the nearest Army Recruitment Office for detailed information about the eligibility criteria, application process, and selection procedure.
