First engineering college of Assam.
Placements: 70 percent of the students were placed in the mechanical branch. The top recruitment companies were Vedanta, TVS, Balco, NRL, OIL, and many more. The highest package was 24 LPA, and the lowest was 5 LPA. An internship was provided in the company, like ELEATION.
Infrastructure: For class, we are provided with a good classroom consisting of projectors, blackboards, and also Wi-Fi facilities. There are ten hostels, one for the girls and the rest for boys. The hostel rooms are in very good condition and well furnished. We are provided with internet facilities in the hostels also.
Faculty: The teachers present in the college are very helpful and friendly. The interaction between the teacher and the students is very good. Students are taken to industrial and field visits for real-life understanding of the course. The semester exams are quite good, and almost 90 percent of the students are in the pass percentage.
Other: Assam Engineering College is located in Guwahati, which is one of the developed cities in Assam. Everything required or necessary is easily available near the campus. The tech fest named UDBHAVANAM and the cultural fest named PYROKINESIS are held in the month of February. The campus is surrounded by greenery and also the Deepor Beel. Scholarships are provided to the top rankers of every semester.

NRL, OIL INDIA, ASHOK LEYLAND, CAPGEMINI, BHARAT PETROLEUM, INDIAN OIL, BCPL, BOSCH, TATA ADVANCE SYSTEMS recruited the students.
100 % students got internship in various companies like oil india, ongc, astc, apgcl, ntpc etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available without any disturbance throughout the campus, Classrooms are well furnished with smart class facility, college has the super computing center.
You can play any sports you want except swimming, food in the mess and canteen is good enough. College has its own hospital for treatment of students.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified enough and are very helpful regarding any matter like academics, internship as well as for self development.
Curriculum under ASTU is improved one and has been formulated in such a way that it is concise and to the point. It gives insight to each an everything that a student needs. It scraps out the unnecessary and irrelevant things that are not required. Yes the course makes the student industry ready.

Assam Engineering College review as of 2024.
Placements: Among seniors, half of the students were placed. The highest package was 20 LPA and average was 4 LPA.
Tata, Vedantu and ONGC are the top recruiters.
70 percent students got internships in railway NTP and IOCL
Sales manager is the top role offered. Many of the other companies also visit the campus to recruit mechanical students.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi, a library and classrooms are pretty decent. The quality of the hostel is average. We have to stay in a group of three in a meeting. We are given typical Assamese dishes: breakfast bread, jam and butter, lunch dal rice, dinner, sometimes fish curry sometimes egg curry and sometimes chicken .
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified Ph.D. scholars from IITs. Yes, it is relevant in mechanical; they make us industry-ready. Semester exams are pretty average; if you do your homework on day one, it will feel easy. Many of the students get this course hard because they don't follow the basic steps given by teacher but if we listen to them, we will feel easy.
Other: I chose this course because I liked mechanical engineering from the start. I wish to improve the old-fashioned syllabus into something new and AI-based too.
Pyrokinesis is the annual fest of our college; it is a big event where not only Assam celebs come but Bollywood too. The campus is surrounded by nature in the mountains. Scholarships: we get different scholarships for ST and SC general depending on the caste. ECA also hosts intra-hospital cricket and football tournaments.

Assam Engineering College -An overview.
Placements: Almost 60 % of the students got placed in my batch and the same in the senior batch. The students were offered GET, MT roles. The average salary was roughly 5 LPA. There is a Training and Placement cell (T&P) cell in the college. The T&P cell is very proactive and the team was quite efficient.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure needs a lot of improvement starting with the auditorium to the workshops it has. The sports facility is awesome with 4 grounds for football, cricket, volleyball and badminton. The hostels are well built and have mountains in the backdrop. The rooms are spacious and there is canteen in the college. The mess service is also commendable in the hostel.
Faculty: Faculty is very good. They are mostly alumni of IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi and IIT kharagpur. Their teaching methods are very traditional and often interactive. The students faculty ratio is roughly about 80:1. The course curriculum needs an upgradation. They provide the course in alignment with B.E degrees rather than B.Tech.
Other: Pyrokinesis -Annual techno-cultural fest, Various events throughout the year like debates, quiz, celebrations. The crowd gathering during the annual fest is one of the best in the North East. The connectivity is awesome as it resides in the city of Guwahati. There are various provisions of scholarships for the socially challenged, bright students and mostly government funded.

Good placement but infrastructure could be improved.
Placements: In B.Tech Mechanical Engineering last year (2024), 80 percent of students were placed. The average salary was 4.5 LPA, with the lowest at 4.2 LPA and the highest at 24 LPA. Top recruiting companies included TCL, ONGC, IOCL, AUDI, VEDANTA, and L&T. There were no significant internship opportunities provided by the college. Job positions offered by recruiters included field engineer, senior coordinator, analyst, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is old compared to other state colleges but includes all necessary amenities, such as Wi-Fi in every class and smart TVs. All labs are well-equipped with top company instruments. There are 8 boys' hostels and one large girls' hostel, each well-provided with facilities for a peaceful stay. The mess is run by the superintendent and provides non-veg food 5 days a week and veg 2 days a week, along with vegetarian breakfast and lunch every day. All hostels have their own playing fields and sports equipment for a healthy student lifestyle.
Faculty: All faculty members are qualified and experienced, holding doctorates from prominent NITs and IITs. The teacher-to-student ratio is good for better individual attention. The course curriculum is designed to suit students for job descriptions and higher studies. Each semester includes 3 class tests and one final end-semester examination. The exams are mainly based on previous university question papers and are not very difficult to pass.
