- Read moreCandidates who has passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination is eligible to apply provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100. No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular Course of Study after passing the previous qualifying examination. For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education /Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. Candidate must have aggregate 50%, Physics: 45%, Passed in Mathematics, Chemistry. However, Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST or OBC Community must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate at the previous qualifying examination.

Review of Asutosh College.
Placements: Top recruiting companies are TCS, ICICI Bank, Byjus, etc. The salary package offered by CTC is 3 LPA. Only a few students did internships.
Infrastructure: Our computer labs are well-equipped with laptops and projectors. Our college has 3 labs for the physics department. Our classrooms are well-ventilated and have projectors and sound boxes for a better teaching experience. Our college has two libraries and one departmental library. Students can play many games in our college like table tennis, carrom, etc.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, friendly, and knowledgeable. Some of them are Ph.D. holders from abroad universities, and some of them completed their masters from various IITs. The pass percentage is good. Our college is under the University of Calcutta, so exams are a little bit difficult to pass. If students study well, they can pass exams easily.
Other: Our college conducts annual sports events and cultural fests. All students can participate in our college events and fests.

I am satisfied with faculty members, infrastructure and facilities provided here.
Placements: Just pursuing a graduate degree won't offer students any campus placements. If you want placements, I suggest that it is better to opt for B.Tech degree and do not expect any on-campus placements from our college. However, you can get opportunities to apply for different jobs after completing the degree.
Infrastructure: Students will be satisfied with the physics lab here, and classrooms in our college are neat and airy. You will be surely satisfied with the library, and librarians are always available to help you. The atmosphere is great, and students are always motivated to do better in their studies.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They always encourage students in their studies. They are ready to help students in any of their problems regarding studies. They instantly clear students doubts.

I am absolutely happy because of really good faculty members and infrastructure.
Placements: Since I am pursuing a degree course, none of the students bothers to attend the interviews. However, companies like TCS, Teleperformance and many more visit for recruitment. Students are not interested in opting for placements as they had different plans. Many students pursue their dreams and indulge in further studies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the physics department is decent. The physics lab have all their required equipments and computer system for c programming course. Wi-Fi is not available and department has a library with recommended physics books and journals. Most of our colleagues stayed on paying guest ( PG). I do not know about other department but physics student used to move out of college to nearby food stalls for lunch. Sports and games was not part of college curriculum. But that hardly mattered because we used to organize cricket matches with our batchmates.
Faculty: Teachers here were very helpful, qualified and experienced. Their teaching quality was fabulous, and they were highly efficient. They focus on sharing their knowledge. The course curriculum is relevant to some extent, but it does not make students industry-ready. Our college lacks in paying attention to extracurricular activities like debate, impromptu speech, etc., which are essential after you passed out of college.
Other: I chose physics (Hons) as course because right from the beginning, I found physics is interesting. I am always captivated by it. Events and fest are one of the enjoyable moments in our college. Fresher's party is the most awaited event for all students.

The college has good infrastructure and experienced faculty members.
Placements: No placements were provided by the college. Some companies visited the campus to give some seminars, but the placements provided are too low. Hardly 1 or 2 students were placed, but the salary packages offered were very low. We have to complete our M.Sc. to get job offers further with good salary packages.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. Some books were not available in the library, we have also reported to the authorities, and they provided those books. Labs and classrooms were well-furnished, but some instruments were too old. I have no idea about the hostel rooms. The food in the canteen was very expensive.
Faculty: Faculty members were very helpful. They helped us understand any case of our studies. The lab assistants were not well educated, so they did not help us. Our teachers provided class notes every day, and that was very helpful for us to study. The student-teacher ratio was 10:1.

It is a moderate college with lots of opportunities.
Placements: Many students of our batch are pursuing higher studies, and some of us are in private jobs and government jobs. But most of us are still trying for placements. Some companies visited the college for placements. Most of the students did not get placements from college. The college is affiliated to Calcutta University.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is nice. Classrooms are good. It is a compact college with lots of subjects to choose from. Annual games and lots of cultural programs are conducted for students to participate. There are game rooms, toilets, staff rooms, lavatory, etc., available here. There is a lobby to enjoy.
Faculty: Faculty members in the college are very good. Teachers and lab assistants in the college are helpful. It was a pleasure to be a student. There are many course selection options, and there are Hons, major, and general courses. These are under Calcutta University. There are some distance courses under Vidyasagar University.
