Belda College is a reputed educational institute situated in Belda, Paschim Medinipur near Kharagpur, West Bengal. The college was established in the August of 1963 in a picturesque site by Kedarnath Das and N G Dutta, the then BDO of Narayangarh. The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, and is affiliated to Vidyasagar University, Midnapore. It has been accredited B grade by NAAC.
Belda College offers degree programmes to aspirants at the undergraduate (UG) level. Programmes offered at Belda College are in the streams including – Science, Humanities & Social Sciences as well as Commerce.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria for UG & PG Courses
UG Courses
Belda College offers UG courses in the field of Arts, Commerce and Science. The college offers BA in English, Bengali, History, Geography, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, Sanskrit, Sociology, Santali, Education, Music, Physical Education and Hindi.
In Science, BSc is offered Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Nutrition, Computer Science and Physiology.
Belda College also offers BCom (General) and BCom (Honors) in Accountancy and BCA. The college also offers vocational courses (BVoc) in Theatre & Stage Craft and Software Development.
The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a student passed in 10+2 in any stream with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks. However, students who have scored 50% in the subject applied for (but aggregate marks less than 45%) are also eligible. Selection of students is done on the basis of marks obtained in the last qualifying exam through counselling process.
Prospective candidates may fill the online application form which can be accessed by visiting the institute’s official website. The application fee can be paid through bank challan payment method only. There’s no other mode of application or fee payment is currently allowed by the institute.
Key Points:
- Students can apply maximum three different Honours/General subjects against one ID at one time.
- Students are eligible for Nutrition Hons. If they have Biology or Nutrition with Chemistry at HS Level.
- Calculation of Merit Point is calculated on the basis of marks obtained in the Subject Applied added to 10% of best of five subjects’ marks.
PG Courses
Belda College offers regular post-graduate programs in the disciplines of Science and Arts stream. MA program is offered with specializations in English and Bengali. Subjects offered under the MSc program include Mathematics and Physics.
The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these programs is graduation in the relevant discipline with minimum 45% aggregate marks. Students are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam conducted by the institute.
Only offline applications are accepted by Belda College for admission to PG courses. The application form can be downloaded from the college’s website or collected in person from the institute office. The application fee can be paid in cash or via demand draft. It is mandatory for students applying under open category to appear for the institute level entrance exam.
Application Process Belda College
For UG Courses
1. Online Form Fill-up for admission in UG level under CBCS (Honors. & General) will commence in the second week of June at Belda College website.
2. Last date of submission of Online Application Form and application fee through online will be in the last month of June
3. Online Application is mandatory for Online Admission system
4. Students passed HS level under selected boards 3 years prior to the current year may apply for admission in UG Level for the session
5. After submitting the Application Form, students are asked to pay requisite application fee through online within the 3rd week of June as follows –

Candidates can apply maximum of three (3) different Honours/General subjects against one ID at one time. Admission for BCA and BVoc courses will be made separately through Online like other courses.
6. After submission with One/Two subject application form, if he/she decides to submit one more subject’s application, separate ID will be generated and he/she has to pay application fees.
7. Prospectus will be issued upto date of counselling which will be mentioned in the college website and Notice Board. Also, see attached Date of Counselling and Admission Schedule.
For PG Admissions
- Students can also download the application form from the institute website on the stipulated dates.
- All requisite particulars in the application form should be filled correctly.
- The complete application form should be submitted with attested photocopies of all supporting documents.
- The cost of application form is Rs. 400/-, which can be paid in cash at the time of submitting the application form. Students can also pay the application fee via demand draft.
- The demand draft must be drawn in favor of “Belda Collge” payable at Belda.
- Students will be issued admit cards for the purpose of entrance exam. Those students who score within the cut-off percentage are eligible for counselling under open category.

Admission Process Belda College
Here is the further process of admission after Application Process of Belda College:
1. Calculation of Merit Point: Merit Point = Subject Marks + 10% of best of five subjects Marks.
2. Provisional Merit List will be published in College website in the last week of June and list must be seen in the college website only.
3. Any detection of error in Provisional Merit List be brought to the notice of Dr. Lipika Mandal, Co-ordinator, Online Admission Committee 2018-19, within the same day
4. Final Merit List will be published on the college website
5. Students applying for Belda College must provide fixed mobile number through which all subsequent communication will be made to them. This is very urgent.
6. Students applying for different courses at Belda College must upload Scan Copy of (i) Applicant’s Signature (ii) Passport size photo, (iii) HS /Eligible Board Mark Sheet & (iv) Cast Certificate of SC/ST/OBC A/OBC B & PWD (Persons with Disability) if applicable.
7. Candidates are asked for Enquiry for Admission in the following subjects in the college office: BA, BSc & BCom General Courses, BVoc Theatre & Stage Craft, B.Voc Software Development, History (Hons.) Political Science (Hons), Philosophy (Hons), Sociology (Hons.), Santali (Hons), Music (Hons), Economics (Hons), Accountancy (Hons) and Computer Science (Hons).
8. Each student can apply for a maximum three (3) different Honours or General subjects against one ID. Separate ID will be offered for Honours & General courses. However, if the candidate after submitting one/two subjects in one application form and decides to apply another two/ one more subjects, separate ID will be generated and separate fees will be charged.
9. Admission will be made after counselling & scrutiny as per Date of Counselling and Admission Schedule mentioned in the important instructions for Counselling in the next page.
