B.E. in Food Technology - Batch of 2020
Offered by Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology

Campus and teachers were top class.
Placements: Around 60% of students in the Food Technology course secure placements annually, with the highest package offered being 13 LPA and the lowest package being 3 LPA. The average package falls within the range of 5-8 lpa. Prominent recruiters such as Amul, ITC, and Nestle have visited our college for our course.
Infrastructure: The college had commendable facilities and infrastructure, ensuring that students had access to all necessary resources. The labs were equipped with a wide range of required equipment, and the college also provided Wi-Fi connectivity. Moreover, there was a hostel facility available for students who did not opt for it.
Faculty: The faculty members at our college possessed extensive expertise, qualifications, and knowledge in their respective subjects. The college arranged numerous industry visits for the students. The professors delivered effective teaching that emphasized both theoretical concepts and practical applications.

I'm satisfied due to highly experienced and helpful teachers and awesome salary package of 6-7 LPA.
Placements: Food technology branch is frequently growing day by day. Around 70% of the students got placed. The average salary package offered is 5.5 LPA, the highest salary package offered is around 10 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are HPCL, Reliance, Pepsi and more than 50 companies. Many students got an internship in 3rd and 4th year as it is the best chemical engineering college in North India.
Infrastructure: Facilities in our college are quite good, and we have awesome labs, classrooms, etc. A. C. Joshi Library is very famous here. We have 24x7 Wi-Fi facility, good food and many canteens. There are many clubs and societies, and medical facilities are also good. Mess food is average in taste, but hostel life is the best here.
Faculty: Our faculty members are highly educated and experienced, and they are very helpful. Our physics department is considered the best in India, and the pharmaceutical department got NIRF 2. Our course curriculum is relevant, and it makes us industry-ready. We go to many industries to learn something during ground reporting.

B.E. in Food Technology - Batch of 2018
Offered by Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology
3.2

Average infrastructure and no placements.
Placements: Placements are not up to the mark, especially for food technology stream. The chemical department is often regarded as the dominating one, and very less focus is given to food technology. The main core subjects are being taught by guest faculty because of which the clarification of basic concepts is a problem for students. There is no major recruiter as such for food technology students.
Infrastructure: Quality of food served in the hostel mess was below average. There are a lot of infrastructure issues like the condition of washrooms is pathetic. The numbers of fans in classrooms are below than what is required. ACs are there in several classrooms, but I haven't seen any of them working.
Faculty: Few faculty members are really good at teaching and were really very helpful. But few guest faculty members don't even have the proper subject knowledge, and a bad situation was turned into worst when the main core subjects were awarded to them to teach. Choosing of elective subjects is not open to students. Instead, they were made mandatory in the semesters. The important subjects like supply chain management, mathematics 3 were not taught during the B.E course. There is no provision for doing an internship in the 8th semester which I think should be kept. Even the duration of summer internship after the 6th semester is too short to understand the industry and grab the key learnings. As I have already mentioned, some core subjects were taught by guest faculty who have just started their career in teaching and as a result, students suffer from the lack of basic knowledge of food technology. Cramming is promoted for subjects like food micro, food science, food chemistry, etc. rather than delivering the concepts.
Other: Panjab University is located within the Chandigarh city, so connectivity is not a matter of concern. Annual fest of the department is very disappointing. Funds allotted for the department's annual, cultural and technical fest were very low. Extracurricular activities and campus crowd were good enough.

B.E. in Food Technology - Batch of 2017
Offered by Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology

Partially satisfied with the college, and the placements in 2017 were bad.
Placements: Placements in our college were not good. Only two companies visited the campus to offer placements. Only 3 out of 17 students were placed. Placement officer's efforts were zero. Companies which used to come to the college earlier didn't visit for the last placements. It might be due to the poor handling abilities of the PO. The highest package offered was 6.25 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was really poor during my tenure. Fans didn't work properly. Apparatus in labs didn't work half of the time. There were no extracurricular activities. No sports facilities were available. Washrooms were broken and not clean. There were no medical facilities. Wi-Fi facility was good.
Faculty: The number of faculty in our college were very few. There were only 3 experienced professors. Industry experience was very less. We had only a 6-week internship programme which is very less compared to other institutions of food technology. The faculty didn't allow us to do internships during our second year.

Worth for the campus life alone.
Placements: The placements for our batch when compared to the senior batches were good but we had to fight for them. Almost every company will offer you CTC from 3 to 7 LPA. Companies include ITC, Cremica, Nestlu00e9, ZS associates, EXL, Zycus, etc. Out of 25 eligible students, 23 were placed.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is 50+ years old. It is like most of the government buildings. Library is adequate for the size of the batch. Wi-Fi speeds are substantially faster than your traditional network. Hostels are too small for 2 to live in. But after some time you'll get used to them.
Faculty: This college is short on faculty. Course curriculum is extensive and you will get to learn a lot even some core concepts of chemical engineering. But your base will be taught to you by guest faculty. The permanent faculty is good with their subjects and will teach you adequately.
