Dream Institute of Technology has both positive and negative sides, displaying a mixed review. First, Dream Institute of Technology boasts of sound infrastructure, be it classrooms, libraries, or hostels. People are free to use limitless Wi-Fi and even medical services. The placement front is quite good, and it's around 80-90% in TCS, Cognizant, and Infosys companies; the highest package can touch up to 15 LPA, while the average package remains about 6 LPA. Most of the students also find it an affordable option for quality education. However, the quality of faculty is a concern. There are some reviews which say that some instructors do not deliver lessons properly, and due to this, only a huge amount of self-study gets done by students. Other problematic issues include the quality of food in the canteen, where many students received complaints about it.

Though Dream Institute of Technology is not ranked nationally by any known survey, it is one of the stronger private engineering colleges located in South Kolkata. The college offers various undergraduate engineering courses, and one of them, B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, shows fluctuations in cutoff ranks in entrance exams like JEE Main and WBJEE. Take the instance of JEE Main cutoff for B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering: around 355,086 to 1,194,918 in the last two to three years. WBJEE cutoff is similarly competitive as the ranks are in the range of about 77,758 to 103,052 for the same program. Though it may not be among the top-end institutes compared to some of the highly established ones, decent education and placement opportunity in the region are provided here.

The admission process to this course in Dream Institute of Technology is quite simple and easy to follow. Students have to take an entrance test and their class 12th board exams are also considered while admitting students. Apart from the 12th Standard marks, Dream Institute considers the students’ performance in different engineering entrance examinations including the JEE Main and UPSEE. Thus, by offering places that will be reserved for students passing both the nationwide examination and the state level test, the institute gives a chance to many people.

Actually, the B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) programme of the Dream Institute of Technology (DIT) has a selective admission policy. To join this program, learners need to pass the JEE Main exam with high results and secure their place in this program. However, it appears DIT does not afford the direct entry to B.Tech CSE program. No other criteria are taken into consideration for admissions, apart from students’ JEE Main ranks and scores.
