The eligibility criteria is as follows:Candidates applying for admission to the Two Year Full-Time MBA must hold a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline after 12 years of formal schooling with at least 50% marks (SC/ST: Passing marks; OBC/PWD/CW: 45%) or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for the final year examination of Bachelor's Degree may also apply. And yes it might be the case that open university would get less preference ONLY IF you are not able to provide any strong reason for not attending a regular college.

Talking about placements, every company coming to the campus will look at your past academic scores as well to shortlist you. Thus, it might be a problem for you during the placements process. However, there are certain other companies as well which look on other things such as extra curricular achievements or the amount and quality of knowledge you have in your area of specialisation. Also,if you have any work experience,or if you have done any live projects for some companies,it can be of help for you during placements.

The cutoff for OBC category for admission to MBA programme 2016 is composite score of 42.175. The Composite Score has been computed by giving weightage of 40%, 30%, and 30% to the scores of VRC, DI/LR, and QA Sections respectively as provided by the CAT Centre for the CAT 2015 Examination for candidates who registered with FMS. Having done B.tech in computer science, it will be helpful for you if you want to continue with your career in information technology. However, if you want to choose other specialisations like marketing, finance then having computer science as a subject in the past won't have any negative impact on your choice.

There is no prior experience or knowledge required in the domain you want to specialize in. You can specialize in Finance despite of your education background.
Plus, your academic background and specialization does not play a role in your admission process.

FMS does not offer BMS course. The Faculty of Management Studies focuses on management education more than just business management.
BMS- Bachelor of Management Studies is a graduate course. Admission to the BMM/BMS degree courses will be via an Admission system which consists of an entrance exam (60%), marks obtained in the Std. XII Exam (qualifying exam – QE) (20%) and an interview (20%).
