Hi.Yes — there are opportunities for students at GIBS Business School (Bangalore) to undertake research projects (or research‑related work) guided by faculty / through institutional support. GIBS IRE School (Innovation, Research & Entrepreneurship) — GIBS runs a dedicated “IRE School” which includes an Innovation Lab, Research Lab, Entrepreneurship Lab.Structured “research + innovation + entrepreneurship” programme — For students (especially PGDM, and by extension some BBA batches) there is a programme under IRE where, over three trimesters, they have credits for Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship. Final deliverables may include “real‑time research / business plans / prototypes / product ideas / market‑research outputs.” Faculty research culture and publications — Many faculty at GIBS are actively involved in research and publish in peer‑reviewed journals (including Scopus‑indexed ones). Live / industry‑linked projects & “Practice School” model — For PGDM especially, the curriculum mentions “industrial project‑based learning”, live projects, internships — which often involve problem‑solving, case‑studies, and industry‑oriented research/work.Support infrastructure: labs, incubation & startup support, research/innovation centers — GIBS maintains labs and centres for research & innovation, provides access to digital libraries/databases, and has an incubation centre (useful if research leads to a prototype or startup).

Hi.An intensive two-year postgraduate programme such as an MBA or PGDM offers advanced coursework and hands-on training in diverse business management subjects, along with more specialised instruction such as finance, marketing, analytics, operations management, HR management, and international business.Graduates with a BBA can start careers in business management, yet finding high-paying employment may prove challenging. Corporate environments place immense value on practical experience as well as extensive knowledge. Therefore, students enrolled in postgraduate management programs such as an MBA or PGDM to acquire these vital skills for entry into corporate environments. One advantage of an MBA or PGDM degree is not being required to possess an undergraduate degree in Business Administration such as BBA. Even if your previous degrees include Bachelors of Commerce, Science, Arts, or any other discipline – an MBA/PGDM could still provide valuable education.

At GIBS, the faculty is very supportive when it comes to research and entrepreneurship. They guide us in choosing topics, collecting information, and preparing proper research work in a simple, easy way. For students who want to start something of their own, the teachers help with business ideas, planning, pitching, and understanding how a startup really works. They also connect us with mentors, workshops, and different activities happening on campus, especially through the startup and incubation setups. Overall, the faculty encourages us, gives clear guidance, and helps us turn our ideas into something real, whether it's for research or building a small startup.
