The applicant applying to the Government Law College, Mumbai, must have passed the Class 12 examination from any recognised board with at least an aggregate score of 50%. Apart from that, the applicant needs to qualify in the entrance test, MHCET for Law, in order to get admitted. There is no age limit mentioned for the applicants. Candidates, after appearing for the entrance exam of MHCET, have to proceed with the counselling, wherein they are screened as per their merits. Once the documents are verified and the admission fee is paid, they are allotted seats in the college.

The counselling process is followed after the declaration of MH CET results. That includes registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, and fee payment.
