Yes, anyone with a bachelors degree with adequate CAT percentile and good academic record can get a seat in IIMA. Having said that, BSc students actually get certain points for diversity. As you know majority of applicants for IIMs are engineers. Hence IIMs give extra points to students from non-engineering background so that there is diversity in the batch.

WIth these percentage it is very difficult to get into IIMs. All the IIMs assign some weight to your pest academic performance. However those aren't strict binding criteria. If you do really well in CAT then you can offset the effects of past academic performance. Also whether or not you have work-experience is not at all a deciding criteria, but if you have some work-experience then it definitely helps a little.

Yes, you can definitely get a call from IIM-A if you do really well in CAT. It is important that you score really well in CAT to offset the effect of low marks in graduation.

Hi,
As per your query, it seems that your long term goal is to pursue MBA, so regarding this please remember in order to pursue full time MBA or PGDM program you need to be graduate in any field with atleast 50% marks in graduation, plus you need to take various management entrance test like CAT, MAT, XAT, SNAP, etc.
Regarding preparation of these tests, I would suggest you to join some good coaching institute in your city which offers quality coaching for various management entrance tests.
These institute offers regular and weekend classes, plus they conduct mock test on regular basis.
For your reference find below some of the finest coaching institutes which offers quality coaching for various management entrance tests.
- TIME.
- Career launcher.
- IMS.
However, as per your profile, I would suggest you to work for 2-3 years after completing your BE and then opt for MBA, the advantage of this step would be that after working for few years you would know which specialization to opt in MBA that can further enhance your career prospects.
This work experience of yours would give you competitive advantage over other candidates with no work experience during MBA admission.
Finally if you work for some years then you may yourself manage the expenses for your further studies.
Please note that, the final selection in MBA or PGDM program is made on the basis of:
1. Education background of the students.
2. Score in various management entrance test.
3. Performance in group discussions and personal interview.
4. Work experience if any.
