You should start 9 months before the exam, although this might vary from person to person. Consistency is the key. You must practice and learn each section daily from whenever you start till the date you appear for your CAT exam. Identify your weaker section and donate more time towards that particular section. On a minute level also focus on which topics you find difficult and take a call on how much time you want to spend on it depending on its weightage in the exam.
WAT or PI is not difficult but not preparing for the same can be fatal. Make sure that your preparation is up to the mark and you know everything about yourself. You will be asked to justify whatever you say and whatever would be there in your application form.
Just be consistent and enjoy this roller coaster ride. Give your 100% and try to think as less as possible about the result.

Now, technically it is fair to say that you are eligible, but some IIMs give more weightage to 10th and 12th. So, technically you are eligible. My suggestion would be to give your best efforts in CAT that should be the primary goal and leave the rest for afterwards once CAT gets over.

All of this does give some relaxation but it doesn't make the course itself free. You can get an education loan easily if you get into IIM Ahmedabad from any bank and given the 100% placement record, you'll get a high paying job by which you can repay it back. 10th and 12th marks are of concern but if you get the interview call, prepare well for it. You must showcase some achievements apart from academics and must have full knowledge about it as they will ask you in detail about it. Apart from that, do maintain polite behavior as there are people from the Organisational Behaviour area taking the interview. Make sure your answers are logical and have proof or fact attached to it. I think with this you can definitely crack any IIM.
