There are many books available on online stores for IPMAT preparation. However, I feel a good command over English, and enough Maths practice seals your place at IPM.

You need a decent grip over Maths to clear IPMAT. Also, there are courses on calculus, statistics and linear algebra, which require a good command over basic math. Thus, students with non-math background face a little difficulty in IPM. Al

Though Coaching isn't a necessity for IPMAT, it would give you an estimate of difficulty level and exam pattern. There are various institutes which offer Test Series for preparation, which are good too. All the Best.
