Glimpse of IIT Guwahati .
Placements: 81 percent of students got placed. Top recruiters are Oracle, Microsoft, Quant, Google, Hamilton, etc. SDE, Web developer, etc. are some top roles. The highest package is 1.2 crores and the lowest is 10 lacs. About 60 percent students got internships, mainly the companies like Oracle, Microsoft, Quant, Google, etc. Internships mainly start in the 3rd year of college. .
Infrastructure: The campus is covered with a full Wi-Fi facility. Classrooms are digital. We have one big library, Lakshminath Library. All facilities at the hostel are good; the quality of food is moderate in the mess, but in the canteen, food is so good. We have one hospital on our campus; we have three sports complexes for games; and we also have a sports club room on our campus.
Faculty: Teachers are highly knowledgeable but not so helpful to us. Our chemistry course is mainly outdated and has no use if we go to core placements, unless it is not for coding-related jobs. Semester exams in our college are so difficult; the passing percentage varies but remains at 70 percent.
Other: Actually, I didn't choose this branch; I got it by JoSAA Actually, our course have lot of free time, which provide us time for coding. Curriculum must be updated for our course. Alcheringa is the biggest festival in northeast India; about 70 thousand people attended it. There are three ways to come to college: train, air and bus. There are two scholarships in our college 1. MLN given to toppers of each branch tuition fee gets waived; 2. SC ST scholarship, all fees are waived except hostel charges .

Good college, placement and campus life but needs improvement in the course.
Placements: My course is chemical science and technology and the placements are good in this because, continuously in the previous two years, people got over 1 crore packages and, on average, 20 lakh. Maybe you won't be able to find much about this and it's placements on Google, but believe me, it is a good course if you pay attention to it.
Infrastructure: Hostels are too good, but due to the pandemic, one of the hostels was damaged and now we had to share 1 room with two people. They have separate beds but a common wardrobe and table. And the course is a little hectic. You need to properly attend all the classes, tutorials, labs, etc. Be an above-average student. And it will easily take your whole day.
Faculty: Some faculty members are too good and some are just too bad at teaching. Also, the exams and curriculum are too, since they completed almost 3 months of courses in just 1 month. But since the marking is relatively high, the passing percentage is high. But in some courses, the marking is absolute as well. It depends on professor to professor.

It's absolutely good, environment is good and ofcourse the most beautiful campus.
Placements: In my branch, 50% have been placed till phase 1 for the 2024 batch. Overall, placement is not good for this batch, mainly due to the recession and some politics carried out by the placement coordinators who are from the 4th year. They favor their own friends for interviews and provide assistance to them during tests.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is really good; at most places, you will get Wi-Fi. The library is also excellent. It's very comfortable reading in the library. The classroom is good, facilities are good—everything is good. In the hostel, you will get sufficient washing machines and a water cooler on each floor.
Faculty: Faculty in my department is good; they are supportive. Most of them give good grades compared to professors in other departments. Many of us from our branch pursue roles like software or non-teaching roles. Being in this branch gives them sufficient time to prepare as the courses are not so hectic. Semester exams are easy; almost everyone passes, but exceptions are everywhere.
Other: This course is really beneficial. You can achieve a good CPI when you are in this branch. If you are in a branch other than CSE/MNC/EEE/ECE, then most probably you will be preparing for a non-core role. However, when your branch is CST, you will get enough time for your preparation.

Dissatisfaction arises due to faculty members, mess food, despite good placements and infrastructure
Placements: The placement rate is around 80 percent this year where the highest package offered was 1 crore LPA, the lowest was 7 LPA, and the average package is 20 LPA, but the median is around 15 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple. Top roles were mostly provided in quants.
Infrastructure: Faculty members are not really great; you'll eventually have to study on your own. They teach for the sake of it. Campus is beautifully constructed; mostly everything is available on campus. From stationary to cafes and clothing shops. Wi-Fi is provided in hostel rooms; there is a library in each hostel and also a central library. In hostel facilities like gym music room TV room mess canteen washing machines conference room gaming room are there. Also, 2 small grounds are provided along with which playing equipment are also provided. But the food quality in the mess is very low. Hospital is also there. You can call an ambulance if you are not able to go on your own.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable and qualified, but they just lack the quality of teaching. Eventually, I had to study on my own for my exams. The current course is not relevant in any way to make it in the industry. The future courses till final year may provide it, but currently it is not relevant. Semester exams are relatively medium and tough for some subjects. Almost everyone passes as the college does not fail someone; if someone does not have minimum marks then they provide supplementary exams to cover our marks.

Good college but curriculum needs to be updated.
Placements: The placement statistics are good and this was the reason I chose this college. About 80 percent of students from each department get placed. Also, not only do they get placed but they get good packages as well. Most of the packages offered are such that the student can pay off their education loan. Every year, the highest package from the college goes above 1.5 crore CTC.
Infrastructure: Yes, the hostels are excellent. I thought that since this is a government college, maybe the hostels will be bad with no titles in the rooms and an uncleaned bathroom. But surprisingly, the rooms were in very good condition and there were books in the room. Also, the washrooms were so clean with a proper dustbin system and there were workers too to clean them every single day.
Faculty: The faculty is so good but the curriculum is not so interesting. The exams were always fair; no cheating was allowed. Some pros were interesting but some of them, especially math pros, were fast and not interesting. Even the course itself was not interesting.
