Q:   Is it worth joining IIT Jammu for BTech?

A:

IIT Jammu placements 2023 concluded recently with an overall 85% placement rate. Other than this, if we compare the past year's cutoff trends for the premium specialisations such as CSE and EE, the competition to get into the institute has increased making it a better option. Other than these, the institute offers amenities, such as well-maintained labs, sport-specific playgrounds, etc. Talking about the infrastructure, IIT Jammu is one of the few IITs of its generation to have a permanent campus and not a temporary or borrowed campus. IIT JAMMU - A new, beautiful IIT is being created, and that is IIT Jammu.
Placements: The highest package offered for the batch 2022-23 was 53 lakhs per annum. The highest stipend offered was 2 lakhs per month. 65+ students have received a CTC of more than 20 lakhs per annum. And as you know, IIT JAMMU is a new IIT, so after some years, this IIT will offer more good placements.
Infrastructure: There are both AC and non-AC rooms now. AC rooms are available for 3rd and 4th year and MTech , PhD students. After some time, it will also be available for 1st and 2nd year students. As you know, this IIT is new and it is not fully built yet. But at times, it has very good facilities and also good hostels.
Faculty: Their faculty is very good, as IIT students deserve their teacher (professor). He is very good . They give their 100% for students, and as you know, IIT does not take bad faculty, so no doubt their faculty (professor) is good and helps students in their studies.

IIT Jammu, one of the best 3rd gen IITs.
Placements: Most of the top companies like Nvidia, Microsoft, and Amazon came here for campus recruitment. Most students go for IT sectors. Placement is good here; if you work hard, you will also get the opportunity for internships in foreign countries. The highest package was 53 LPA, and the lowest from my branch was 8 LPA.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is new and quite nice. Cleanliness is maintained everywhere. Labs and classrooms are equipped with all the basic facilities. Hostels are also good: double occupancy rooms are allotted to first and second-year students, and single AC rooms are provided for third and fourth-year students.
Faculty: Faculty are good and always there to help students. Almost all of them are Ph.D. holders from old IITs and IISc. The curriculum is good, making every student industry-ready. Semester exams are quite tough here; if you do not study well, it will be hard.
Other: I chose this course because I had an interest in electrical circuits and robotics. Many scholarships are provided to students. There are many sports fests, such as Pahal and Pravaah, and the annual cultural event Anhad is also held. All sports and gym facilities are available here.

College is very much recommended.
Placements: This college has a very nice placement record. Many top multinational companies come here and give good packages to students. In the 3rd year, many companies provide internships to the students and many of them, after seeing the work done by them, give them pre-placement offers.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this new IIT is very bad, and the quality of the facilities is poor. The wifis are very nice, and the range is good everywhere. The food quality is too bad. They provide a variety of foods, but the taste is very bad.
Faculty: The teachers at this college are very knowledgeable and qualified, and they teach very well. However, the course is very tough and the semester exams are too difficult to pass. The course is relevant to the industry and prepares students to be industry-ready.
Other: Events happen very frequently here.

Review of Electrical Engineering at IIT Jammu.
Placements: Placements are great at the Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu. After being a third-generation IIT, we are going well. If we talk about the electrical 2024 batch, the highest package was 43 LPA on campus and 70 LPA on campus, and the median was around 17 LPA. These data are decent if we consider that this was a recession year.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided are nice on campus. We have a 24*7 Wi-Fi facility at a speed of around 500 mbps for students and guests. Hostels are nice and well ventilated. We get a sharing room in our first year and a single room in our second year. Mess facilities are also up to the mark.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and qualified. They have first-hand experience in their domain. Choosing ECE is totally relevant, as electrical is the most developed branch in it. Since it involves practical knowledge, it makes students industry-ready.

Not Focused on Providing Quality Courses, Nice Hostel with Single Occupancy
Placements: Around 83% of students received placement offers among those who applied for the placement process; the rest either pursued higher studies or received a PPO. The highest package was 53 LPA, the lowest was 8 LPA, and the average was 18 LPA. Companies such as Amazon, Accenture, and IBM recruit from the college, though this data applies to my batch.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi and lab facilities are adequate, while the library is not very big. The hostel quality is good and well-maintained. The mess food quality varies, sometimes being above average and sometimes below. Non-subsidized canteens are expensive, but subsidized ones are nice.
Faculty: The course faculty is generally nice and most of them are helpful. This course is expected to be in high demand in the near future due to advancements in VLSI technology. The difficulty level of semester exams depends largely on the course structure and faculty.

Q:   Is IIT Jammu BTech curriculum same as that of IIT Delhi?

A:

Yes, IIT Jammu follows the IIT Delhi course curriculum for now. The institute may develop its own curriculum over the years. In the first year of the BTech course, students have to study common topics related to the field of Science/Engineering. From the second year of the course, the subjects are more related to the chosen course specialisation. This information is taken from the India Science, Technology and Innovation portal official website.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
