A:

IIT Jammu placements 2023 concluded recently with an overall 85% placement rate. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: A balanced review.
Placements: The placement offers received by the 2019 batch were top-tier companies across various industries. Some of the top recruiters include MeraPashu360, Amazon, Accenture Japan, JTP Co. Ltd. , Mathworks, Sprinklr, NVIDIA Graviton Research Capital LLP, American Express, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and many more. But most companies were SDE-related, leaving fewer options for core-related branches. Overall, percentage placement was a decent 85%. For B.Tech students, the highest package received was 53 LPA, and the average package was 18 LPA. From mechanical most got placed in software-related profiles, but 4-5 got business, sales and, operations-related roles.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi for students, faculty, and guests, but in some areas especially South the Wi-Fi doesn't work. The hostels are fine. For girls, there are Canary and Dedhar hostels (adjacent to Nescafe). There are plans to shift girls from Canary to previous boys' hostel to make room for new batch. Even Dedhar Hostel has urinals. We have classrooms with projectors and a centralized AC system. The Library isn't big and sitting arrangement is only for 10 students. We can't rely on the medical facilities if the issue is major. There are three mess and you have a choice to opt for which one. But, the food *** despite changing vendors. We have sports like basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, softball for women and indoor stuff like table tennis, pool and, chess. Unfortunately, there is no swimming pool. We participate in inter-IIT sports meet and there are intra sports events like Pravaah as well.
Faculty: There will always be a variety of teachers you get to meet. All are qualified some teach well and some don't. There's not much imposition from 3rd year onwards. It also depends on the open electives and minors you opt for. They are trying to make curriculum more industry relevant. The future batches will get even opportunities since we have our own Tinkerer's lab. Whether you perform well or not depends mostly on self-study. The first and second years will be a bit tougher than the rest.
Other: Our cultural fest is Renao and tech-fest is Technuntus.

Our college has an average infrastructure.
Placements: Placements provided in our college are above average. More than 83% of students get placed as coders. Around 1 or 2 core jobs are provided. The maximum salary package offered in 2022 was 55 LPA, the minimum salary package was 8 LPA, and the average salary package was 16 LPA. Around 99% of students got placed in the IT sector.
Infrastructure: Hostels are newly constructed and provide good facilities.
Faculty: Some subjects are difficult. Faculty members in our college are good and always available. Marks are given in every subject considering assignments, tests, or projects. There are frequent exams and tests. Students have to study more calculus in the first year and they get less time to study extra subjects. There is a difficult subject every semester. Semester exams are hard.
Other: Campus crowd is less.

IIT Jammu is the dream of those who want to attend an IIT.
Placements: At an IIT, there are good placement statistics. The highest package offered for the batch 2022-23 was 53 lakhs per annum. The highest stipend offered was 2 lakhs per month. 65+ students have received a CTC of more than 20 lakhs per annum. Companies like L&T, Amazon, HCL, IBM, TCS, ICICI Bank, etc., visited the college last year.
Infrastructure: The old infrastructure is not that good, but the new hostels are amazing. They have single occupancy rooms with AC and large living spaces. The classrooms are very good, with comfortable seats, ACs, and large smart boards. The mess here is average. Do not expect that you can gain full nutrition from the mess food.
Faculty: The teachers are very knowledgeable about their subjects and related fields. Since IIT Delhi's curriculum is followed, no one can question the curriculum. Semester exams are a bit tough as the courses have heavy syllabi. Teachers are kind and humble with students.

Review of Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu.
Placements: The number of students selected from our college was more than average. Approximately 90% of students were placed. The highest salary package offered was 50 LPA, LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 5 LPA. The average salary package offered was 11lakh. International companies were also interested and students were satisfied with this college as they need proper things.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure were good. Our college provides almost all the things which students want. The quality of facilities in our hostel was average. The mess food was also good and medical was also very good. All facilities like sports and other were fine, and there was no need to complain about this.
Faculty: Teachers were well qualified and knowledgeable. The way of teaching and expressing their thoughts was fine, and students understand that easily. Exams were very easy to maintain average CGPA as papers were not tough, and an average student can score well.
Other: I opted for this course, because of my interest in it. The improvement was not needed in this course. Events, fests, activities, etc., were held. All these things happen once a month and it was managed by students.

Q:   Is IIT Jammu BTech curriculum same as that of IIT Delhi?

A:

Yes, IIT Jammu follows the IIT Delhi course curriculum for now. The institute may develop its own curriculum over the years. In the first year of the BTech course, students have to study common topics related to the field of Science/Engineering. From the second year of the course, the subjects are more related to the chosen course specialisation. This information is taken from the India Science, Technology and Innovation portal official website.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
