Review of IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology (IITKGP).
Placements: The chances of placements in the core (mining ) for M.Tech students who joined through GATE are almost nil. However, if you do well in the software, you will be getting placed for sure, irrespective of your branch. The average strength of the class will be around 12 students. Tata Steel has hired almost 5 out of 12 from our juniors batch. The stipend offered was Rs. 12,000 per month along with accommodation was provided. The placement cell is available and works efficiently providing all the updates through e-mails.
Infrastructure: IITKGP has a digital library where you can access all the stuff (journal's) at free of cost. The library infrastructure is awesome, and you will enjoy it for sure. Wi-Fi facility is provided on the campus. The indoor stadium is under construction. It has all the facilities with the best sports-related equipment. The quality of the food differs from the hall to hall. I'm from MMM hall, and the quality of the food served here is good. Classrooms for M.Tech are not bad when compared to B.Tech. Labs are equipped with the latest equipment and highly maintained.
Faculty: Faculty members of our college are highly qualified and very friendly. The method of teaching is mainly presentation except for rock mechanics subject. You will enjoy learning as professors teach in an easy and good manner. There are 30 professors in the mining department. Industrial tours are also a part of the curriculum for B.Tech students but not for M.Tech students. M.Tech project is related to the fieldwork. Courses offered here are good with an updated theory, which is very useful.
Other: Campus life is wonderful. Events and fests conducted here which energise you in between the exams and semesters.

Note that the IIT graduates having CGPA of 8.0 or above will be eligible for direct admission at IIT Kharagpur without a GATE score 2023. The institute has scrapped the written tests/interviews of shortlisted candidates. The admissions will be conducted on the basis of the GATE 2023 score only.

It totally depends on your stream of BE. If you are in mechanical, civil, electrical then your rank should be under 1200.
If your branch is electronics rank should be under 800, for CSE, IT the rank should be under 400.
