Both are great institutions. But if I were in your position I would chose IIT, Madras because of its ranking and teaching and much more. I don't know much about IIT, Hyderabad. Good luck.

No, admission in IITs is purely done on the basis of rank scored in JEE Advanced exam. One has to score a good rank in JEE Advanced in order to get a seat in IITs.

The process for aeronautical engineering is based on JEE score in the desired institute. So if he is pursuing 12th then tell him to study hard to score well in JEE.

IIT Madras has started a summer internship programme on 2 tracks, a) Data Analytics and b) RISC-V. About 40 students have joined this programme for a duration of 2 months. The goal of these 2 high end programs is to create curiosity in niche computer subjects and to inject passion for innovation among students. These 2 programs will have 30% theory and 70% practice so that the students will get a full grasp of the concepts. Professors, research assistants of IITM and senior industry consultants conduct these 2 programs. IITM provides necessary space and other infrastructure. In Data Analytics, students will learn advanced RDBMS concepts, bigdata concepts, ingestion of tera bytes of data, creating visual analytics from this data and ML/AI principles. Tensorflow engine is used to apply ML/AI concepts. Students will be analysing data based on industry data models for banking, insurance, eCom, government etc. Visualizing industry data is the key aspect of this programme. RISC-V (pronounced as risk five) is a free and open ISA enabling a new era of processor innovation through open standard collaboration. Born in academia and research, RISC-V ISA delivers a new level of free, extensible software and hardware freedom on architecture, paving the way for the next 50 years of computing design and innovation. IITM has developed SHAKTI micro-processor that uses RISC-V. Students will learn about RISC-V instruction set, toolchain, binaries, deep dive into E-Class and verification of the processor unit. "Every computer Science student must have skills in data analytics and India must develop world class micro-processors, and India must pave way for open source", says Dr. V. Kamakoti, Professor, Computer Science Department, IITM. Congratulations to all those students who are undergoing this great internship at IITM and we wish to see indigenous microprocessors of India.
