It's the best for students getting rank in between 6300 and 6800.
It's good in every aspect. You may also go for IIT, Mandi for civil at this rank.

IIT-Roorkee for engineering physics is the best option for you unless you have an extraordinary interest in naval architecture.

No, you can't get admission in IIT's for M.Sc programmes. They are only available along with B.Sc programs as integrated courses of 5-years.

Admission in IITs for B.Arch is given only on clearing AAT test which will be conducted after the announcement of advanced results.
So 230 marks in JEE Mains paper 2 are not going to help you to get into IITs.

IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee are old and best institutes but as per the present rankings IIT Delhi holds a good position and it provides better placements.

Hello Hritik,
First of all congrats for securing good score in JEE Advanced, now coming to the choice of branches, you might not get branches like CS, especially if you are from general category. Briefly study the core subjects of all the branches, discover which subjects interest you. IT is very important to pursue a branch of your liking- you have to study it for 4 years and apply it's concepts in real life. Read about the branches and find out what you like.

The two options you gave, I would advise you to go with electrical engineering at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. It is because your branch matters and certainly electrical is much better than geophysical and electrical is core branch too.

Electrical engineering students at IIT(ISM), Dhanbad has got decent placements in past few years. Since we got the IIT tag last year only, the number of companies visiting the campus is bound to increase from here on. You can check out the placement records at the official website of IIT(ISM) IIT (ISM) - Training & Placement. Also, non-core companies are visiting our campus for all branches such as Capgemini, Goldman Sachs, etc.
And, if your college matter to you, we are not a bad choice there too. Yes, IIT(ISM)-Dhanbad is not among old IITs but it is older than all the old IITs (established in 1926). The infrastructure is quite good and lots of things are coming up. It has a rich legacy and culture of its own and most importantly it has a very strong alumni base throughout the world. If you are interested in higher studies after graduation this alumni base helps a lot no matter from which department you are.
All the best.
