To get admission to IIT Ropar the candidates have to take the GATE exam and clear it. GATE is a national-level entrance examination for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes at IIT Ropar. The exam tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. GATE score is valid for three years and the scorecard is widely accepted by various institutes and organisations for admission and recruitment purposes. IIT Ropar offers the GATE fellowship to Indian Nationals pursuing the M.Tech course. IIT Ropar provides modern amenities with state-of-the-art infrastructure to its students. The institute is spread over an area of 501 acres. The campus has academic, residential, sports, training and career development, and transportation. Additionally, the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has a medical center that has a dedicated team of medical and paramedical staff. According to unofficial sources, the total tuition fee for the BTech programme at IIT Ropar is INR 8 lakh. BTech at IIT Ropar is offered in nine specialisations namely Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical  Materials Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. To be eligible for these programmes candidates need a minimum of 75% in class 12 exam.

Check the cutoff norms for a variety of institutions: Each institute has its own unique set of scoring criteria, so make sure to research the institutes you are applying to and their specific cutoff scores. In some institutes, 38 or 39 marks are considered satisfactory as per the range of cutoffs in that particular college. However, these marks can be considered below satisfactory in some institutes due to their strict cutoff norms.

2. Search for a broader range ofinstitutes: If you have a poor score, you might consider applying to a larger range of institutes, including both top-ranked and lower-ranked ones. This will eventually increase your chances of being selected.

3. Concentrate more on other aspects: While a good GATE score is vital, it is not the only criteria to consider. Many institutes additionally look at your academic record, employment experience, general aptitude, and personality. To boost your chances of being selected, showcase your strengths in these areas.

IIT Ropar offers admission to its four-year BTech course through a valid score in JEE followed by JoSAA counseling. Candidates can apply for the respective exams and after clearing the examination, proceed with the seat allotment process. The seat allotment process is done through a computerized process called the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Candidates are allotted seats based on their rank, preferences, and availability of seats. The candidates who are allotted seats will have to report to the allotted institute for document verification and to confirm their seats.
