Yes, management exam scores such as CAT, MAT, CMAT, and GMAT scores can have an impact on a student's placement opportunities. These scores are an indicator of a student's aptitude and potential for success in management studies, and they are often used by recruiters to shortlist candidates for interviews and placement offers.
Many companies that recruit MBA graduates from top B-schools have a minimum cutoff for entrance exam scores, and candidates who meet or exceed these cutoffs are more likely to be considered for placement opportunities. In addition, candidates who perform well in these exams may have better chances of securing internships, which can lead to full-time job offers.
However, it is important to note that exam scores are just one of the many factors that can influence a student's placement opportunities. Other factors such as past academic performance, work experience, interpersonal skills, and performance in the selection process can also play a significant role in determining a student's placement prospects. Therefore, it is important for students to focus on developing a well-rounded profile that highlights their strengths and achievements in various areas.

Since you are currently pursuing a PGDM from IMT Centre for Distance Learning, you will need to obtain a Master's degree before applying for a Ph.D. programme. Once you have obtained your Master's degree, you can then apply for a Ph.D. programme. However, admission to a Ph.D. programme is highly competitive and depends on several factors, including academic qualifications, research experience, test scores, and other factors. It's also important to note that each institution has its own admission criteria for Ph.D. programs. Therefore, you should carefully review the admission requirements of the specific institution you are interested in to ensure you meet their eligibility criteria. In summary, to pursue a Ph.D. you will need to obtain a Master's degree in a relevant field, meet the admission criteria of the institution you are interested in, and be prepared for a highly competitive application process.

They also consider a candidate's performance in the entrance exam, such as CAT/XAT/GMAT, as well as their performance in the selection rounds, which can include group discussion, Personal Interview and written ability test.

Being a student of IMT Nagpur I believe I can answer this. IMT recently updated its cutoff. So earlier they had eligibility of 70percentile. But as of now, it's not possible to get admission at the 70 percentile. Work ex helps in placement. There's no doubt about that but IMT selects based on marks and not work ex. Companies do give preference to one with work ex. Besides 70percentile is a low score. You'll get an average college with this score. I'll suggest studying more and applying next year because an MBA is something we do once in our lifetime and after that mostly we'll apply for a job rather than a Ph.D. So why not get admission to a decent college which has good placements and brand value too?

In short, the answer is no. IMT only allows regular graduation degrees people and not distance. Many tier 2 and tier 3 colleges accept only regular degrees. I too have a degree in distance education but they didn't allow me with that degree because my regular degree's result was delayed so I wanted to enquire can I take admitted with a regular degree. Then they gave me an extension to submit my documents but didn't allow me with a distance degree.
