Q:   What is the fees for BTech in IIIT Kottayam?

A: 

The total fee for BTech shall include a tuition fee of INR 9.6 lakh, a hostel fee of INR 4.99 lakh, and a one-time payment of INR 20,000 which includes caution deposit and sports fee. The total fee will be higher as other fee components are also added. The given fee is further as per the data collected from unofficial sources, hence, is indicative. Q:   What is the cut off for IIIT Kottayam 2023?

A: 

As per the cutoff list released by IIIT Kottayam for admission to its flagship BTech programme the closing ranks for BTech in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) for the year 2020, 2021 & 2022 were 605, 579 & 902, respectively. This clearly shows that the closing rank for the CSE branch at IIIT Kottayam has recorded a significant decline. Also, the closing rank for BTech in Electronics & Commmunication Engineering (ECE) recorded an excessive decrease. In addition to this, the closing rank for Computer Science & Engineering (Cyber Security) branch with a slight decrease have been in the same slab.

One of the best Tier 2 colleges in South India.
Placements: As for the data in the academic year 2021–22, around 144 offers were received and 84 students were actually placed; the highest package was INR 59 LPA, with INR 14 LPA being the average placement package. Students get national as well as international internships in countries like Germany.
Infrastructure: The course is structured in a modern way, so you don't have to study chemistry or stuff like that. The first four semesters would be the same for all CS courses, and the next four seem to be for specialized courses. There is a college Wi-Fi facility with decent speed, classrooms with a capacity of 140 students, a seminar hall, a library, a gym, and many more sports facilities. There will always be a nurse in charge, and a doctor will be available on a predetermined schedule. Mess food is okay, and the menu is a mixture of north and south Indian cuisine; expect 1-year-old boys. All hostels are inside campus, and a room is occupied by three people.
Faculty: The curriculum is pretty hard; it uses a relatively strict grading system, which could be a good or bad point depending on the individual. All faculty members are Ph.D. scholars and super-qualified in the subjects. There are clubs that also help with CS-related subjects in a hands-on way.

Our college provides excellent placements.
Placements: Placements are excellent. Around 84 students got placed out of 144 students in this course. The highest salary package offered was 58.93 LPA. The average salary package offered was 14.10 LPA. The minimum salary package offered ranges between 10 LPA to 14.10 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Amazon, Infosys, TCS, Nissan, Deloitte, etc. Nvidia has joined hands in providing internships. Many students got internships in top companies. One of the students got an internship at Amazon, and the stipend was 1.5 LPA. Our institute is very passionate about it and wants IIIT Kottayam to be known for its cyber security branch. Our director is also good at representing the future of cyber security.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are well-maintained and spacious. Around 130 students can accommodate easily in each classroom. High-speed Wi-Fi is available. There is a small library. Around 30 students can sit in the library. However, there is a lot of space to sit in various places outside the library. Hostels are not good. Hostel rooms are very congested. The room has space only for 2 students, but the administration has filled 3 students to have more students with few resources. There are 2 almirahs, so 3 students have to share those 2 almirahs. Nearly 100 students are residing in a hostel outside the campus which is around 7 km away. Bus service is available. The food served in the mess is very good. The mess is managed by a mess committee which is formed by students. The menu is very good at reasonable prices. The food is prepared by the staff members. The canteen is small but has all the necessary items along with some good food options. Few shops are available on our campus. Medical facilities are available for emergency purposes. There is a van to reach the hospital within 20 minutes. Sports are not conducted. Our campus is situated on the hills. Playground is available for sports like football and cricket. There are 2 badminton courts. Table tennis is also available in every hostel. There is a small basketball court. We also have an open-air theatre in this college. Our campus is very beautiful.
Faculty: The course curriculum is relevant. Faculty members are knowledgeable. The teaching quality is better. All IIITs follow the course curriculum of IIIT, Hyderabad. However, we have a cyber security branch. We also have very talented researchers in this college. Semester exams are easy. If you want to have a good score, you need to work hard. The schedule is very hectic in this college.
Other: Extracurricular activities and events are conducted in this college. Many clubs are available such as dance, music, art, photography, acting, etc.

Decent placements and developing infrastructure and facilities, but fees are slightly overpriced.
Placements: Considering the recession period, IIIT Kottayam has performed decently in the 2023–24 placement season. The highest CTC was observed to be 45 LPA, while the average is mentioned to be around 12 LPA (on and off campus combined) and the lowest around 4 LPA. However, the overall placement percentage has slightly declined when compared to the great placement season of 2022–23. Top recruiting companies like NVIDIA, HP, IBM, Media.NET, etc. have visited this year. Internship offers from various companies become grabbable starting from the 2nd year of college itself if the profile is decent and the projects have a good teaching style.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are good with Wi-Fi support, digital boards, etc. Labs have most of the necessary equipments required in adequate amount (Computer labs even have proper Ethernet connections). Hostel facilities are fine and adjustable, except for the insects (since the campus is located in a lush green place). Mess is unified, not hostel-wise. The quality of mess food recently varied because of increase in the number of students and lack of kitchen space. However, the two canteens (Milma Shop and Scoops) are easily accessible. We get quite a number of events and tournaments in sports and games but they have their own limitations.
Faculty: Teaching quality is good. Teachers are mostly helpful, humble, qualified and knowledgeable about a variety of research domains. There's a lot to learn from some of them. The course curriculum is really great considering that it has some similarities to that of IIIT Hyderabad. Students can get industry ready but they need to push themselves more than anything. Semester exams have moderately difficult levels (depending on the faculty who sets the paper) with a very high pass percentage.

This college is the best in terms of placements but the course curriculum is hard and lengthy.
Placements: Almost 95% of students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered was 58.83 LPA. The average salary package offered was 13 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Amazon, IBM, etc. Many students got internships at Amazon, Wipro, etc. The top roles offered are data scientist and artificial intelligence developer.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi connectivity is good with unlimited data. The laboratory's condition is very good. Every day, we have experiments in the laboratory. The library has all the required books. Classrooms have LED screens for better visibility for backbenchers. In the hostel, all facilities are available like playing and study rooms. The food served in the mess is average. There is a doctor for medical emergencies. A sports area is also available.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and highly qualified. If we do not understand anything then we can ask them any time. The course curriculum is relevant to make students ready for the industry. Semester exams are very difficult. The passing percentage is 45%. The course curriculum is designed in a very unique way.
Other: Every month, sports events are conducted in our college.
