IISc stands for Indian Institute of Science. The institute is a public university in Bangalore that focuses on education in sciences at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Talking about comparison in the difficulty level of IISc Bangalore with IIT, the former is hard to enter in terms of admission, the students are evaluated based on their academic background on school as well as undergraduate level (in case of students pursuing postgraduate courses) . The institute focuses on producing quality brains which excell in research sciences. While IIT has various researches going on by multiple teams on students, IISc Bangalore focuses on one reasearch at a time by small number of students which results to more impactful results . Keeping this aside, both the institutes are well reputed and stands at a good position globally as well . Getting admission in either of the two is a matter of prestige and pride. No, it is no possible to seek admission at IISc for M.Tech without GATE exam. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore offers a four year M.Tech in various specialisations including Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and others. Admission to all the courses at IISc is completely entrance-based. The aspirants are admitted to M.Tech at IISc based on scores in GATE exam followed by COAP counselling. For the purpose of Applying for the BSc programme in the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore one requires the minimal of the following: a pass in 10+2 certificate with 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. The application procedure is normally through the month of February and normally ends in April. The official website of the examination allows online registration and the candidate has to pay a fee of 500 INR for general category and 250 INR for SC/ST/PWD category and upload a duly filled application form. The students shall be placed in the basis of their score in JEE Main, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) or National Talent Search Examination (NTSE).

For admission to the BSc programme in Biology at the IISc, the candidates have to face the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) test or the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and Advanced. OU considers the scores of these exams for admission into its undergraduate programmes among the disciplines it offers include: KVPY exam takes place every year and hence the cutoff marks also tends to differs every year. The cutoffs for the SA stream for students studying in class 12 for the 2022 exam were 55-60 for the general category students. The statured Bangalore IISc offered a 4 year BS programme in Biology, which takes 30-40 students every year.
