Review of M.V.J. College of Engineering.
Placements: Placements are not offered in our college. If students have skills then they get placed on campus. We also get domain material testing and other mechanical-related job roles.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good in our college. It also provides a digital library. Our campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The food served in the canteen is average.
Faculty: Faculty members are helpful in our college. They are very knowledgeable and the teaching quality is better. Semester exams are difficult. Our course curriculum makes students ready for the industry.
Other: Cultural activities and fests are not conducted in our college.

The college management is disappointing.
Placements: About 70% of students got placed from all courses. The minimum package offered is 3 LPA, and the maximum package is about 10 LPA. The companies like Toyota, Suzuki, R&D, etc., come here.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are quite good. A digital library is available with current information. The quality of the hostel and the canteen food is good, but the fee is high.
Faculty: Faculty members have great knowledge and teaching skills. MVJ College of Engineering offers an extra opportunity with the open choice of electives, and choosing an elective gives us knowledge of other subjects. The college organises an industrial visit for us to gain practical knowledge.
Other: I am very much passionate about mechanical engineering, so I chose this college.

Our college provides good teachers and facilities.
Placements: In the mechanical department, placements are less compared to other departments. Top recruiting companies like Marine, Tech Mahindra and Tata visit our college for placements with a good salary package. IT industry companies also visit our college for placements with a good salary package.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very good, and it has a good department for each field. Classrooms are good, and it has good facilities of labs and library with Wi-Fi facility. The hostel facility of our college is good, and it serves good food.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is good. They explain each topic in a simple manner. After teaching, the semester examination looks easy, and the pass percentage is 90%.
Other: Our college organises many events.

B.E. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2020

The college focuses solely on academics.
Placements: The percentage of students who got placed is about 25%. It increases every year, but due to COVID-19, the placements were affected for my batch. The highest package offered is around 7 LPA, the lowest package is 2.5 LPA, and the average package is 3.5 LPA. Quest Global, TE Connectivity Euro Fins are some of the top companies that visited the college. The internships were mandatory for everyone, and the college provided internships to almost 30% of the students in the college, where company officials visited the college. The remaining people got internships in companies like HAL, RITTAL etc. The top roles offered were a junior technical engineer and assistant engineer.
Infrastructure: MVJ college has an excellent campus for students, and there is a lawn on the campus which is very much enjoyed by the students at their free time. The classrooms and departments are really good with clean benches and regular maintenance of the rooms. The labs for the mechanical department are one of the best in whole Bangalore because of the new and properly running machinery and other equipment, and almost every student can have a go at the machines and work independently without waiting for their turn. MVJ College has a separate building for the library where we can find almost every book required for the course for all 8 semesters. It also has a digital library where students can use it any time when they want. I can say that Wi-Fi is very poor because we won't get connectivity almost everywhere in the college, and also the speed is ridiculously slow, so Wi-Fi quality is very poor. I didn't stay in the hostel, but as I've heard and seen myself, the rooms and the bathrooms are good and well maintained. There are 2 blocks for boys hostel, where 1 block has attached bathrooms to every room, but in the other block, there is no attached bathrooms but a common bathroom for each floor which is really difficult for the students staying there as they have to wait to use the bathrooms. Sometimes, there is even some pungent smell in the hallway, which is irritating sometimes. The canteen is not quite big compared to other colleges, but the quality of food is good, and the prices are also affordable. Medical facilities are available in the college, but it's not used by any student. It is only used if there are any emergencies. The college has only one common ground for all sports apart from basketball ground. The ground is not a turf ground which is really disappointing for many students who are interested in sports activities. There isn't any competition offered by the college except during the fests.
Faculty: The teaching quality is good and above average for sure. The teachers are Masters graduates and have good knowledge about the course and subjects. But the disadvantage for the students is no proper practical knowledge is provided to the students. They are only focused on academics and theoretical knowledge. The course curriculum is from VTU, and the subjects are outdated and not at all relevant to the present world and present industrial conditions. There was not even one industrial visit for us when I was studying, so I don't think the course makes the students industry-ready.
Other: I've chosen mechanical engineering, and my batch consisted of around 140 students who were divided into 3 sections, so I can tell that the classrooms were not crowded. I've chosen mechanical engineering totally out of my passion for the subject, and people call it an evergreen subject. I can have a wide variety of options for my career as I graduate. Mechanical engineering course has always been the same for many years, and it is not something that can be changed. But instead, the university can introduce new advanced subjects to the course and also hope they would focus even on the practical front. The college has a fest every semester, one is the technical fest, and the other is a cultural fest which has many good events where the students can showcase their talents and win prizes. The campus is not that crowded, and it is a good place to study, but the campus surroundings are the worst. It feels like it has been isolated from the city, and it does not have any good restaurants in its surrounding. The college does not offer any scholarships, as far as I know. There are some clubs in college where the students can join and conduct extracurricular activities.

Offered by M.V.J. College of Engineering

It is a great place to start your engineering life.
Placements: Around 10%-15% of the students from our course were placed in reputed companies. This year the placements were affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As I am in the mechanical stream, the number of companies which recruit students from our branch is less unless you want to do a job related to a different stream. I know that the highest salary package offered here was 24 LPA. Apart from that, most of the salary packages offered start from 2.5 LPA. TE Connectivity, Johnson Controls, TCS, Cognizant, etc., are the main recruiters here. It is mandatory to do an internship for academic grades, and companies like Kamal Solar, Volvo, HAL and BEL mechanical workshops offer internships here. Mechanical engineer, design engineer, thermal engineer and project manager are some of the top roles offered in a mechanical engineering branch.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available in our college, for which they make you register with your credentials as soon as you take admission. Labs are clean, well maintained and equipped with good lighting. There are helpful instructors in labs. The canteen offers only vegetarian food, and it is very affordable. Moreover, the food is very clean and hygienic. Nescafe and Cafe Coffee Day are also available for students who are very much interested in drinking coffee. There is a huge library with lots of collections of books, and most of them are available in bulk, but a bit outdated as the college just became autonomous. 2020 batch was the last VTU CBCS scheme batch. Boys' hostel smells a bit bad, and I have no idea about the girls' hostel. Students who are interested in sports are highly encouraged here. There are a huge football ground and a separate basketball court, which is as huge as the football ground, but it is built with concrete. Apart from that, carrom, chess, table tennis and a lot of other indoor games are available. Parking is available for both 2 and 4 wheelers. Even there is a strict anti-ragging policy.
Faculty: Teachers here are professionals, knowledgeable and very helpful. They are friendly, and you can even contact them outside the college. Overall, the teaching quality is good. Teaching and delivering the concept to students won't be a problem in this college. All teachers are qualified and know what they are doing. But our college should provide more practical knowledge rather than making practice theory. There were no industrial visits in my 4 years of college experience. Every semester, feedback is taken from students anonymously regarding teacher's behavior, teaching quality and amount of portion completed.
Other: I have chosen this course due to the peer pressure from my family members and friends, but I was not much interested in it. However, I could get my graduation. I was more interested in computer science, but I didn't have much freedom in choosing the stream. So, I suggest you to choose the stream in which you are interested and don't believe others who say that a particular course is tough or it doesn't have much scope in the future. Since it is a mechanical course, I wish that I would have at least one industrial visit and more practical knowledge. But they are not provided here, which is the drawback. Scholarships are provided under all government schemes. Scholarships are compulsorily provided for SC/ST students and other caste students also but not as much as SC/ST. Faculty members in the scholarship department are not much responsive, so you have to approach them when they are free and get your doubts cleared. Fests and other events here are just like in any other college. They are conducted every year and every semester, and you are encouraged for extracurricular activities also if you have enough attendance and grades. Our campus is located far from Bangalore city. Transportation facilities are provided if any student needs them, for which they charge Rs. 33,000 per year apart from your term fees. Our college surroundings are clean and contain stationery and photocopy shops.
