You have to appear for jee mains examination. and then if u can clear cut off marks and after the 60-40 stimulation formula which will not be regulated after 2017 . If u get ur rank in under 15k gen category and for other obc and hc/st category.u can browse the cutoff rank for different NITs on https://shiksha.com. You also have to go through a counselling procedure for admission in NIT. CSAB conducts the counselling.
it is done in 4 rounds 1st and 2nd and 3rd round are done with filling of choices and simultaneously give the colleges according to the choice filled.
in the forth round of counselling u have to again fill the choice where latter choice would be renewed to your new filled choices.then there comes the spot round to get admissions.check the full counselling procedure on www.jeemains.nic.in
