Yes definitely, you can go in space technology line as a lot of concepts which are applied in space engineering are at their very base mechanical in nature and as the basic concepts of Mechanical engineering like solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer are taught in mechanical engineering course in B.Tech level so you could easily get into advance topics of space engineering. Moreover ISRO takes mechanical engineering graduates every year so there is immense scope for Mechanical engineers in space engineering.

Definitely not, I myself have dropped a year and after twelfth. Only a few companies have this policy of not allowing dropout to sit in their screening, like in our campus out of around 98 companies which visited the campus only 5 of them had this policy of recruiting freshers only. Hence in my view it is NO PROBLEM.

Also the placement in these colleges is quite good as almost all major recruiting companies of different branches visit these colleges.
