Nehru College of Nursing situated in Coimbatore is famous for its undergraduate nursing courses, but when it comes to the M.Sc. Nursing course, the college is often rated average in the vicinity. Nevertheless, the quality of the programme offered is subject to certain variables such as faculty, infrastructural availability, clinical practice exposure and the university linked to the college. The following are worth noting:Accreditation and Affiliation: Verify the relevant institutions that govern the practice of nursing in that country, especially, Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC). It is important to determine whether or not the college is affiliated to any reputable university. Degrees held in nursing programs require whole hearted professional endeavor to achieve.Faculty: When it comes to a specialised programme like M.Sc. Nursing, the quality and the level of the teaching staff becomes a critical aspect. It is prudent to understand the background of the teaching personnel in terms of academic credentials and work experience.Clinical Training: Nursing students require hands-on experience in hospitals and clinics. Find out whether the college has affiliations with leading hospitals and other health care centers for practical training.Placements: Examine the placement history of students from previous years. Also, there should be better information on the average targeted salary and what kind of companies the graduates entered after.Infrastructure and Facilities: Ensure the college is friendly enough with such facilities as a modern well- stocked library, lecture rooms, and nursing skills labs.Visiting the college, talking with present or former students, and looking through the college Merging Vocational Education into the College of the Canyons brochure or website would help a lot in understanding their M.Sc. Their success in the world of recruitments, however, is fairly average in connection to some of the best nursing colleges in Indian scenario. To elaborate on the placements scenario in general:1. Clinical Integration and Practice Exposure:The college delivers essential practical training, which every nursing student requires, to a large extent. This is because it has a number of hospitals in which students get practical training.Nursing graduates from these colleges, given the high clinical exposure, are employable even before graduation where there are job openings and this tends to favor placements.2. Assistance in Job Placement:Nehru College of Nursing may not have a high rate of direct placements in the campuses as compared to other popular institutions, but maybe they do have provisions for placements. Most students are able to work in the government and private hospitals, health care units and nursing homes in Tamilnadu and the rest of the country.3. Employment:Following the B.Sc. Nursing program, the graduates can work as a staff nurse, clinical nurse educator, nursing supervisor in addition to working in the hospitals, health care institutions or research places in other health care related jobs.A number of students do opt for higher studies (for example, M.Sc. Nursing or other courses) or even certifications, which help them in bettering their earnings or job positions.4. Alumni Network and Reputation:People's perception about Nehru College of Nursing in this region is fair enough. A large number of them are even employed at the well-known institutes such as PSG Hospitals, Ganga Hospital and other private hospitals in and around Coimbatore.
