Life after two years of struggle.
Placements: Placements are decent here The average package you can expect is around 13.5 LPA and the percentage of students who got placed here is around 85% overall from all registered students in on-campus placements. The highest package in 2023 was 47 LPA and the lowest was around 4 LPA. Around 25 % of students got internships from all who participated in internship interviews and exams. The top companies were Golden Sails, Bajaj, Tata, Accenture, Bharat electronics, Bharat Dynamics, etc.
Infrastructure: There are a total of 11 hostels for students and every hostel has different types of rooms based on whether they are vegetarian, non-vegetarian, north Indian, south Indian, etc. There are common rooms, Wi-Fi, study rooms, playing courts for basketball, badminton, cricket, volleyball, open gym, etc. In front of different hostels. There is a huge library where you can study any time; it will be open 24x7 and you can issue books during working hours. There are total of four canteens at different locations on campus. Other than that, restaurants and cafeterias are located outside the campus on roadside called kattangal.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and everyone is at least qualified with a Ph.D. degree and classified based on their experience in their field. Now there are 2 options for choosing their subject for the students, even in their first year. Exams are syllabus based and for passing, you need to get at least an E grade.

A complete package for every engineer. Highly qualified faculty members and better experience.
Placements: NIT Calicut has amazing placements. In the mechanical engineering department, 87.7% of students were placed in different companies. The highest package was 36.5 LPA and the lowest was 5 LPA. The average package was 9.78 LPA. The top recruiting companies for mechanical engineers are BPCL Ford and Cairn Oil & Gas. Internship offers at NIT Calicut are also very good. A number of students got internship offers at BPCL this year.
Infrastructure: NIT Calicut has advanced classrooms. Every classroom has Wi-Fi facilities, projectors, etc. Labs in NIT Calicut are really advanced; some machines are too old and need to be conditioned. Hostel facilities are so good here. Every hostel has a good wi-fi internet connection. There are separate rooms for playing table tennis, chess, carrom, etc. mess and canteen in hostel are satisfactory. They provide quality food with separate places for vegetarian and non-vegetarians. Every hostel has first-aid box for medical emergency. Some of the hostel have badminton courts and open gymnasium inside the hostel.
Faculty: Teachers of NIT Calicut are highly qualified. They are very friendly to the students and students can reach out to the faculty members in their cabins. Their teaching quality is appreciable. The curriculum was updated in 2023 and the latest version helps students solve real-world problems. It will surely make the students industry-ready. The exams here are averagely difficult and the pass percentage is very good.
Other: I chose mechanical engineering because I am fascinated by how things work and enjoy solving complex problems. I am also an automobile enthusiast. The best parts of NIT Calicut are the technological fest named Tathva and the cultural fest named Ragam. They are really enjoyable. These make students more productive, apart from curricular activities. The campus is very beautiful and surrounded by greenery. There are badminton courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, kho-kho grounds, cricket grounds and football grounds.

    Average infrastructure but great opportunities.
Placements: Even though I am a first-year B.Tech. student, I assure you that there is a high placement rate here. We have received multiple internship offers at the end of our first year (some of which include a stipend of up to 15,000), and our last-year placements in mechanical and overall were extraordinary.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure here is quite satisfactory. The academic Wi-Fi is high-speed but our hostel Wi-Fi has poor connection. We have a CCC (computer lab) with the latest facilities and high-speed internet connection. The labs have experienced faculty members. The hostel facility is poor (at least for first years) but our mess is one of the best in the whole campus, serving delicious food throughout the day. Our campus has good medical facilities, which include a free health center.
Faculty: 90% of the faculty here are experts in their fields, having completed their education at top IITs. Most of the teachers are dedicated but their teaching methods are a lot different and difficult to grasp. The curriculum is a little difficult but it has a lot of depth. The semester exams here are moderately difficult, but if you have the right materials, self-study starting 2 or 3 weeks prior is enough to achieve a good score .
Other: The best thing about this course is that it is from an NIT, which is among the top 5 NITs in this country. Our Tech fest is Tathva and cultural fest is Raagam, are among the most celebrated fests in south India .

Good placements, good teaching faculty, overall nice curriculum, really a good college to join.
Placements: 79% of the students were placed in the course. The highest package was 36.4 LPA and the lowest was 6LPA and average is 12LPA. Top recruiting companies are HPCL, Bajaj, BPCL etc. 43% of the students got internships in Bajaj, Oracle etc. Top roles offered are management trainee and Auto cad engineer.
Infrastructure: We have all facilities including a library, a Wi-Fi which is available in the hostel along with 24/7 labs which are very well built. You will have a good experience overall. The food is okay. The canteens are available within a reachable distance and has good food. We have an HC that gives us free treatments and an ambulance is always available. All kinds of sports are available for the students to pick any sport to play or learn .
Faculty: Teaching quality is top notch. They’ll help you with everything. The attendance is mandatory. Course outcomes are provided initially at the starting of the semester regarding the particular subjects. Semester exams are a bit difficult, we got to study hard to maintain a CGPA.
Other: I got this course as per counselling. The best thing about my course are the labs. I enjoy my labs a lot. There is nothing to improve. Events are A- class including Ragam which is the famous cultural fest and Tathva, the technical fest. The college has many interest groups for students and cultural clubs to join. The Sports complex is available for competitions.

The facilities are pretty good and I am satisfied.
Placements: About 70% students were placed from the Mechanical Department of NIT Calicut in the year 2024. Top companies like Tata, P&G, ISRO, Mahindra, Aditya Birla, BPCL, HPCL, etc. come for recruitments every year. The highest package offered was 20 LPA and the lowest was 7.5 LPA .
Infrastructure: The infrastructure at NIT Calicut is pretty good with all the classrooms having Wi-Fi, proper tables, etc. The hostels in here are so good, especially the Mega Hostel. The rooms are big enough in size having chairs and tables being available. Sports and games are also good here.
Faculty: The teachers here are so helpful and the classes are so good as far as the students listen. They are qualified with a minimum of Masters degree in their respective subjects. The semester exams here are pretty difficult, you can get good marks only if you study hard and smart.
Other: I chose this course because I was interested in the mechanical field. The best things about our course include the opportunities it gives, and the numerous job availability in the Mechanical field which is a field where the demand does not decrease any day, it only increases.

It depends on your category and the percentile you scored in 12th board. if you belong to the sc/st or ph category then you will get the seat in NIT CALICUT for sure but if you are in another category then you should apply in different college also.
