Candidates with a BSc or equivalent UG degree with at least 60% aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% aggregate or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category) are eligible to apply for an MSc course of NIT Calicut. The aspirants must hold the UG mark sheets and pass certificates as proof of eligibility. The institute admits candidates only after document verification.

Admission to the course is entrance-based. It is also crucial that applicants fulfil the eligibility criteria and have the relevant documents as proof for the same. Only the aspirants with a valid score of IIT JAM can apply for an MSc course at NIT Calicut. The selected candidates further need to take part in CCMN counselling for seat allotment. The total course fee includes various components such as tuition fee, caution deposit, admission fee, hostel fee (if applicable), development fee, etc. The total tuition fee for MSc in NIT Calicut is INR 30,000, the hostel facility cost INR 18,000, and a one-time payment (including various components) of INR 30,500. NIT Calicut has a seat intake of 75 for the full-time MSc course offered in three specialisations. The institute reserves 25 seats for each specialisation. In addition, the institute reserves 5% seats for PwD category candidates followed by norms of the Government of India.

NIT Calicut offers a two-year MSc course in three specialisations. The full-time PG course is offered in specialisations, including Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. Admission to all the specialisations is through IIT JAM followed by a counselling round. Aspirants further must meet the eligibility requirements for these courses.

NIT Calicut admissions are entirely entrance-based for all its UG & PG courses. Candidates are shortlisted based on their past academic records along with their scores in the respective entrance exams accepted for different courses. The SILA Scholarship at NIT Calicut is offered to BTech students in the Department of Civil Engineering. The scholarship is given to those students who have scored the highest and the second the highest in their first, second, and third years of study. The scholarship will be offered to six students in total. The highest scorer will get an amount of INR 50,000, and the second-the highest student will get INR 20,000.

No, NIT Calicut does not facilitate direct admission to any of the courses. Admission is entirely based on merit in the national-level exams, including JEE Main,  GATE,  IIT JAM,  CAT,  NIMCET,  UGC NET, etc. Candidates are further required to participate in other selection rounds, such as counselling, written exam, and interview as well, as per the applied course selection criteria.

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice. 

The CAT exam is always conducted on the last Sunday of November every year so the CAT 2024 exam is expected to be conducted on Nov 24, 2024. Official announcement of the CAT 2024 exam date will be made by the convening IIM on Jul 30, 2024.
