Yes, candidates can change their BTech branch at NIT Goa after the first year. A student admitted to a particular branch of the undergraduate programme will continue studying in that branch till completion. However, the Institute may permit a student admitted through JEE (Main)/DASA quota, to change from one branch of studies to another after the first two semesters. To change the BTech branch at NIT Goa, candidates are required to complete the eligibility criteria laid down: Candidates must have completed all the credits required in the first two semesters of their studies in their first attempt. Branch changes are usually based on candidates' CGPA, which will be calculated based on candidates' scores of the beginning two semesters. Students need a high CGPA (often above 8.5 or 9.0) to be eligible and get a seat in another branch. Sometimes the seat also plays a major role in switching the BTech branch.

{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}Is BE/BTech at NIT Goa a Good Choice? Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's what stands out:* Teaching Quality: Professors are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is above average, and many students appreciate the effort put in by faculty members to make them industry-ready.* Course Curriculum: The course curriculum is relevant, and it prepares students for industry requirements. While some students feel that it may not entirely make them industry-ready, many agree that it lays a strong foundation.* Placements: Placements are good, with around 95% of students getting placed. The highest package offered is INR21 LPA, and the average package is INR12 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Samsung, Oracle, Nokia, and others.* Facilities: Facilities are improving, with plans to move to a new campus in 2022. Current amenities include air-conditioned classrooms, well-equipped labs, and a library with a wide range of books.* Campus Life: Campus life is lively, with frequent events and fests organized throughout the year. The college community is small, allowing for closer relationships between students and faculty members.* Scholarships: Scholarships are available for SC/ST students, with benefits ranging from INR1.5 Lacs to INR5 Lacs per annum.* Hostel Infrastructure: Hostels are adequate, with shared rooms and basic amenities. Food quality is average, and some students suggest improvements.* Wi-Fi and Internet: Wi-Fi is available across the campus, although speeds may vary.Overall, NIT Goa appears to be a good choice for those seeking a well-rounded education, decent placements, and a vibrant campus life. While some areas may require improvement, the institution shows promise and commitment to developing its students' skills and knowledge.
