No, the JEE Main is what gives admissions to the BTech programmes at NIT Kurukshetra. The college has good placements and faculty but bad infrastructure.
Placements: Placements were good in the past. Now they are declining because of the huge crowd of CS/IT 400+ students and the old curriculum. But still, it attracts big MNCs like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Deshaw, offering 50+ placements. As there is a huge crowd, TNP is trying hard to invite more and more companies, and it will improve in the future as the college has introduced its 8th full-semester intern.
Infrastructure: The best part of college is that it provides single rooms from 2nd year onwards and food is very good apart from H-10, i.e., the Mega hostel and every hostel is well-equipped with Wi-Fi and LAN facilities. The infrastructure of labs and classrooms is pretty outdated. We have a health center working 24 hours a day and a sports ground offering most of the games. The sports culture at our college is very good. Our teams in cricket, kabaddi, handball and athletics won regularly at the Inter NIT.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and supportive. They will help you to solve every doubt. The course curriculum is very well designed with 6th semester interns to help you apply whatever you learn in the course and understand what else you have to study to survive in industry. Semester exams are medium to difficult. You can pass exams just by studying 2 days prior to exams and by solving past-year question papers, as most of the papers come from there. The passing percentage is 90% in IT .
Other: I have chosen this course and college because of their great placement records and massive alumni network. In NITKkr, there are two festivals: the cultural festival Confluence in October and the Techspardha Technical Fest in February, which attracts 50 + college students from IITS and NITs all over the country .

Top placements with a lot of extra curricular activities.
Placements: Placements for CS and IT branches have been excellent in NIT Kurukshetra over the past few years. And sure, it will hike more than that in the upcoming years. The average package for CS/IT was above INR 20 LPA. The highest package was INR 67 LPA, and the lowest was around INR 6 LPA. Top companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, etc. visit here every year. An internship is also quite good at NIT KKR. This year, one student got an internship worth INR 12 lacs, and many got above INR 4 lacs. So NIT KKR is a good college for you if you are thinking of great placements.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided to us are also quite good. There are computer labs that are open till midnight, a 24*7 library, good classrooms, and Wi-Fi is also available in our hostel rooms. Hostel rooms are also quite big, with three seats. Mess food is also decent. Hostel staff and teachers are also very helpful and friendly here. Canteens and hospitals are also available.
Faculty: All the professors here are highly qualified, including those from IISC, IITs, etc. The course curriculum is quite strict here, with 75% mandatory attendance. The college conducts three to four midterm exams and a final midterm exam. They are not very difficult, but yes, you need to study hard to pass them with 33% marks as a passing percentage.
Other: One of the best parts of this college is its extracurricular activities and many clubs. You are going to find many clubs according to your interests. Fest is also very good here.

Dissatisfied with college culture but the placements are decent one.
Placements: The Information Technology course at NIT Kurukshetra is offered by the Computer Science department, so the syllabuses of CSE and IT are nearly identical. In 2022, IT had a better placement rate than CSE, with 91% of IT students placed vs. 90% of CSE students. The average package was 21 LPA, and the median was close to 17 LPA. Top recruiters included Amazon, IDBI Bank, Myntra, and Aakash. Each year, top performers are given summer internships at companies such as Oracle, Amazon, and Google.
Infrastructure: NIT Kurukshetra was established in 1963, and the Computer Engineering department was introduced in the 1990s. As a result, the classrooms are a bit old, and only a few have air conditioning. Most of the hostels are old and have fans, but the mess food is decent and balanced.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are very experienced, with many having published double-digit numbers of research papers. The faculty of every department is very supportive, with some exceptions. The curriculum has been revised over time to stay relevant with changing trends. The IT students are among the top scorers of the JEE Main exam, so the competition within the branch is quite good. The semester exams are not that difficult, but irregular students may have to burn the midnight oil to pass. Regular and consistent students should find it easy to score a CGPA of 8 points.
Other: I chose NIT Kurukshetra because it is close to the National Capital Region, which makes it convenient for top companies to visit for campus placement. NIT Kurukshetra is a top-tier NIT with excellent placement opportunities, and IT is the top branch here. There are three major fests organized on campus: Confluence, Techspardha, and Utkarsh. The sports culture is good, and the seniors are very supportive. There are many scholarships available from the government and alumni.

This college is good in terms of placement and internship opportunities.
Placements: Placements are good here. Most of the students in CS/it/ECE branches get placed. In CS/it placement is nearly 90 percent then it decreases to 85-80 percent in ECE, 80 percent in electrical, 60-50 in mechanical and production and at last is civil with 40-50 percent placement. Internship opportunity is there for CS/it branches but other branches lack behind in this aspect. Big companies like. The average package for the college is 12 Lacs. With CS / it having the highest average and median packages of 18 and 16 Lacs respectively.
Infrastructure: Foods is the major point of disappointment here. Hostels are not maintained properly. Some hostels are very big and there are relatively less numbers of staff which leads to bad maintenance, bad food quality and the major concern is that as the numbers of students is very large foods like dosa, idli can be made as they can't be made for the large crowd with the given amount of time. Most of the lifts in the hostels are not working having broken buttons and light. Only a single lift works in my hostel having 1000 students.
Faculty: The curriculum is easy and students easily get time to pursue extra activities they want. Students can prepare for mid sem exams within 2-3 days and can cover up the syllabus for end seems within a week two. Practical are also very easy. Moreover second year onwards students have very less number of classes and get plenty time to relax and do whatever they want. Majority of the is cool here, but some professors are very strict and give very less marks.
Other: The crowd is good.

NIT KURUKSHETRA: A Balanced Assessment of Strengths and Weaknesses.
Placements: The placement record of NIT-Kurukshetra holds good until now. Of course, there is an increase in the NIRF ranking of the institute, but the placements keep a decent record. As of now, there is no information regarding the placements this year, but in the year 2023, the highest package stood at 63 LPA (in CTC) in the CSE branch and the least stood at 7 LPA (in CTC). Around 50% of the students got placed during the campus placements. Companies like Amazon and Microsoft have also come here to recruit the engineers.
Infrastructure: Coming to the infrastructure of the campus, all buildings are painted in red and given a brick-type design. It makes us feel like we are in a fort. There is greenery everywhere inside the campus; there are lawns, trees, buses, flowers, etc. to give us a pleasant feel. The hostels are not extraordinary but are just good up to their use. The food in the mess is made using high-quality groceries. The mess is always kept neat and clean. Of course, the taste of the food depends upon the individual; one may like it or not, but the menu is designed in such a way that all nutrients are provided in the food.
Faculty: The faculty here are all Ph.D. graduates. But I feel that there is a lack of teaching skills in them. I admit that everyone of the faculty members holds a very good amount of knowledge over their respective subject, but there is a struggle to convey what they want to. I suggest the students study by themselves. The library is open 24/7; you may go there or watch videos on YouTube.

Students also asked

Q:   Can I get into NIT Kurukshetra with 95 percentile?

A:

A 95 percentile in entrance exams would raise a candidate's prospect of getting into NIT Kurukshetra, as the conventional cutoff for NIT ranges from 85 to 95 percentile on most seats. This also includes factors such as the cutthroat competition that may exist for a particular course and the sheer number of applicants.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Q:   How can I get admission in NIT Kurukshetra?

A:

The admissions are mainly through national-level entrance exams such as for undergraduate programs from JEE main while postgraduate level applicants qualify through GATE. After successful qualification in entrance examination, candidates must participate in counseling coordinated by JoSAA or CCMT in respective conditions for seat allocation. Eligible with a good rank in the entrance examination, the student is sure to get admission in NIT Kurukshetra into one of its numerous various programs.

Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   Is NIT Kurukshetra worth it?

A:

To get admission in NIT Kurukshetra, candidates need to have a valid JEE Main score. The institute conducts counseling based on JEE Main scores, and the cutoff for JEE Main can be quite high. It's important to score well in JEE Main and meet the institute's eligibility criteria to be considered for admission.

The NIT Kurukshetra cutoff 2023 for BTech courses varied between 8104 and 45868 in the last round, with BTech in CSE being the most competitive specialization. Apart from the competitive JEE Main cutoff, the institute has also been ranked 58th by NIRF Ranking 2023 in the Engineering category. In terms of placements, NIT Kurukshetra has a strong record, with the highest package and average package offered during BTech placements 2022 standing at INR 125 LPA and INR 13.89 LPA, respectively.

So, considering all the important aspects like cutof, ranking and placment, NIT Kurukshetra  is a decent option to peruse a BTech degree.
