BITS-Pilani would be the better choice if the interest of engineering discipline is towards computer science/ electronics as it has got stupendous placements in these domains. However, this doesn't imply that NIT-Surathkal has a poor placement record in CS/EC. Its just that, BITS has got an upper edge in these domains than NIT-S. If you want to go for core branches like Civil/Mech., go for NIT-S. The campus life of BITS is awesome whereas NIT-S has its own beach where students can tranquilize. Selection to national institutes is based on the cut-off marks scored by a candidate in JEE Mains and the structure of option entry. For the residents of Karnataka, seats may be available if NIT-K is given the first option in the entry. It also depends on the branch selected by the student.

NIT's at Surathkal & Warangal are considered as premier NIT's. It's difficult to say about marks since in coming exam pattern of questions is likely to be different. But on other hand I feel a percentile of above 70 should get you admission.

NIT-Surathkal is better placed with NIRF ranking of 22 as against rank 34 for NIT Warangal.

& to get any branch in NITs you need to score 150+ in JEE exam.
Further, the board exam covers 40% weightage and the rest is JEE Exam score.

First of all, I would want to tell you that no college can guarantee you a placement abroad as this is totally dependent on the company decision, vacancy in the job location, projects going on in the location of your choice.
Hands during campus placements one cannot expect for job location of his or her choice, although your choice may be taken in consideration by the company where again the decision is on the company to place you in the location of your choice.
However, this is not the case at off campus placements where the company beforehand advertisers for the job and the location where they want to place you at.
