There's always room for improvement.
Placements: Many companies use to visit our college when there was a boom in shipping industry but during my time the market was down so there were less number of companies providing job to TME which effect our college placement ratio which was moderate with respect to market needs I myself got placed from outside the college but still efforts were made by the placement coordinator in order to bring companies to our college.
Infrastructure: College have a
-Ship in campus
-V type enging
-1000 hp inlined engine
-Tanker simulator
-Fire mock pit for fire fighting drill
-20 mt deep pool for diving
-9 mt pool for swimming
-Individual rooms with common washroom
-well-equipped gym
-Sewage treatment plant
-well-equipped electrical Lab, welding lab, workshop.
Faculty: From 1st to 4th semester mechanical engineering faculty members for basic knowledge of engineering .
From 5th to 8th semester marine engineering faculty members for marine based studies .
Internship and workshop lab are taken by marine faculty members.
All faculty members were helpful and adapted to modern teaching methods. Port visits were conducted in order to get industrial exposure.
Other: Maritime week.

Review of RL Institute of Nautical Sciences (RLINS).
Placements: There were placements before but nowadays the market is not good. However, now there is a betterment in this college so it depends on students' performance. In my time only 2 companies visited but now 5 companies visited and hired a good number of cadets.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good for studying purpose, but internships are not good. Machinery is not working basically, and it's an old version. You can learn things, but you will not get onboard experience. You will learn only 30% out of 100% of the course.
Faculty: Some faculty members are good. The course curriculum is as per the rules, but it depends on students' interest how they gain knowledge and please concentrate more on marine subjects because it will help you on board as well in your examinations.

Review of RL Institute of Nautical Sciences (RLINS).
Placements: Placements in our institute were very less in the years 2012 to 2017, but it was improved and have better placements those who completed their course in the academic year 2018. But since some improper fluctuations in shipping side problem for placements. Not only in this institute but also any institute we can expect mandatary placements. But I was not happy about placements in the year 2017.
Infrastructure:
The infrastructure was very good compared to other marine institutes. For infrastructure, it can get 3 or 4th rank over all other institutions in India. RLINS got dedicated cabins to every cadet with adequate furniture for study. Since this is a residential institute, every cadet has to stay 6 months of every semester in hostel and ventilation was good here. The food available in the college was good, but they need to be improved in future. Few cultural events on some occasions like independence day and maritime week, etc., were conducted. Swimming pool and gym with a trainer are provided for fitness. Every day morning PT activities were conducted. Discipline is maintained by the officer-in-charge.
Faculty: Experienced marine and non-marine faculty members are assigned for cadets every day for their pre-sea training. Labs were also available for required subjects for practical understanding. A ship was built for the internship in the institute itself for pre-sea training.
Other: Overall, this institute was good for cadets who were interested in studying marine engineering. In every semester there will be a port visit like an industrial visit.

The college is quite simple and good enough but needs a lot to improve.
Placements: Around 50% of the students get a chance to get placed in MNCs. Every cadet needs to work on board as a trainee marine engineer.
Infrastructure: There is always a problem in the food served because they only serve vegetarian food. There are separate hostel room facilities, and the hostel is Wi-Fi enabled. There are no switchboards in the room if you need to charge your phone, tablet, etc., from the switchboards outside.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are quite good. They are helpful, but this type of professional course should contain a staff of marine. They need to concentrate on that for betterment further, and there are some qualified lab technicians to help cadets, but they have to focus some more.
Other: There are particular events but don't expect much from them.

I am just suffering here. As per the fee paid, our college did not meet expectations.
Placements: There is a very poor condition of placements here. Our college does not approach any companies, or it does not make any effort in this problem. Most of the students get placements on their own from outside the college else waste the important time of their career. Among 40-50 students, only 1-3 students get placed in proper companies, and even they get placed on their own. Our college doesn't provide anything.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good here, but there is a major problem with plug points as they are not provided in students' cabins. There is a great water problem. The quality of food served is very poor. Non-vegetarian food is not provided even though they take the amount in which non-vegetarian must be provided. Both the quantity and quality are poor. They don't even allow us to bring our own food or to buy food from outside. Wi-Fi is good here, but most of the time, all the sites and downloading sites are blocked. The doctor is not available on the campus.
Faculty: Faculty members here are very poor. Only a few are good, but the rest only waste their time and our time. They fail to share their knowledge and fail to provide smart studies. Students need to study on their own from the internet, etc. They do not provide books also until and unless students demand a lot. They don't take any responsibility.
Other: None of the inter-college fests or activities are conducted here, and there are no social activities.

Satisfied about the way of teaching and food.
Placements: No placements. Not even a single person is placed from college. Previously there used to be 1000 students in college now it is not even reaching 100.
Infrastructure: About the infrastructure first I will tell about the mess. Mess infrastructure is too good and the food in that is the worst one that I have had for all the long four years. Remaining infrastructure is overall average and the examination hall will be good for above the average one.
Faculty: Some of the faculty are bad. They can't even teach properly or clear our doubts. Some of them are good. The marine teaching lecturer will give their best to teach everything but you have to cope up with their level of teaching. And in an internship, if you want to learn something they will teach you the opening and closing of machinery they will be not clearly teaching what is the use of that part in machinery.
