Siliguri Institute of Technology, or SIT, is a good option for B.Tech., providing various streams, from Computer Science, Electrical, to Electronics & Communication. The college has good infrastructure, quality faculty, and is keen on research and development. The placement record is slowly improving, with Infosys, TCS, and Wipro visiting it for campus recruitment, though the average package is somewhat lower compared to other top-tier institutions. It also offers scholarships and has a very reasonable fee structure. However, to get top-level placements, it is always accompanied by students who seek internships and skill development.

Siliguri Institute of Technology commonly referred to by the acronym SIT is classified as a Second Tier Engineering Institute. It is said to be a good institution, with reasonable infrastructures, faculty members as well as placed students but not a standard university college. Tier 1 colleges mainly consist of Colleges like IITs, NITs, and other top-ranked private colleges. SIT however is a good choice for students who would like to pursue the course in engineering education in the North Bengal region. It can be a good local school and the learning experience there could be decent, however, it is likely that the research, faculty and even recognition on the national level might be lower or nonexistent compared to the Ivy League colleges.

Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT) is one of the moderate MBA college in West Bengal. This one is approved by the AICTE and also is with MAKAUT which was Formerly Known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). SIT offers MBA programme which is having intensive industrial interface with reasonably competent faculty and infrastructure. The placements are good, companies which regularly visit for placements includes ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Reliance Communications etc. Thus, while the college is located in Siliguri, West Bengal the access to big organizations could be restricted. If you want to get an MBA experience of a certain region SIT might be good choice but the quality may not be as high as the MBA colleges.

While SIT offers good placement among the companies which recruit B.Tech IT learners, it does not ensure the application of 100% placement. As per to the information available on the website, B.Tech IT placement percentage is nearly 90-95%. Top recruiters include: - TCS - Infosys - Wipro - Cognizant - IBM - Capgemini - and others It must also be noted that though the college has a placement cell where training is also given there is no guarantee that students will get placed immediately after their courses and the opportunities depend on student’s performance, market trends, etc. Still, SIT has a good track record in terms of placements and most of the students get proximately placed in good organizations.
