If you have a rank above the cut-off list then sure you will get a seat. The main two exams to get admission in Sie MVIT are is ComedK and KCET. So if you securing a good rank, you can get a seat and plus it varies according to the branch you want to opt for.

You can take admission for mechanical engineering in MVIT by taking DCET which is conducted by KEA.

As far as civil engineering is concerned, they are one of the least preferred departments when it comes to campus placements. Though their curriculum is easier than the other branches, the department of civil engineering lags behind in terms of placements, even when mass recruiters such as Tata Consultancy Services, Accenture and Wipro Technologies are concerned. Core companies do not come for recruitment here, and even Larsen Tourbo, a major construction firm, sends its IT division - L&T Infotech, for civil engineering students. Therefore, you can see that there are very few companies who come for recruiting civil engineering students, and the placement scenario here is good only for computer science, information science, electronics and communication engineering and telecommunication engineering.
