The CAT exam tests the candidates’ aptitude, reasoning, and verbal skills.Based on the CAT score and other criteria, candidates are shortlisted for the next round, which may include written ability test, group discussion, or personal interview. These rounds assess the candidates’ communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.The final selection is based on a composite score that takes into account the CAT score, performance in the subsequent rounds, academic qualifications, work experience, and other factors.The minimum CAT score required for MBA admission depends on the cut-off set by each institute. The cut-off score is determined by factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, the availability of seats, and the reservation policy. Generally, the top IIMs require a CAT score of above 90 percentile, while other reputed B-schools may accept candidates with a CAT score of above 80 or 70 percentile. However, the CAT score is not the only criterion for admission, and candidates also need to meet other eligibility requirements and perform well in the selection process.
