On Fees and Eligibility

Q:   Can I get admission in Sri Venkateswara College for B.Sc with 60% in Class 12th?

A:

Make sure you get 95+ marks in your Science courses, irrespective of whichever course you want to get into. Good grades in English, for language as a subject, are qually important.

P.S. Im here emphasising on getting into an honours course, subject specific. Also considering an unreserved category.

When the CUET results are declared, registration for all UG and PG programs will begin on Delhi University's admission website- admission.uod.ac.in. Following that, candidates will be asked to choose a programme and a college for seat distribution. Seats for UG courses will be allocated through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal.

For PG admission, 50% of the total seats will be allocated depending on the student's merit in the qualifying examination. The merit-based alternative is only open to candidates with a bachelor's degree from Delhi University. The remaining 50% of all seats will be filled through the CUET PG examination. The final selection will be based on the institute's merit list for both merit and entrance-based admissions.

Sri Venkateshwara at a glance.
Placements: Placements from our college are mainly restricted to B.Com (Hons)., B.Com, and Economics Hons. Candidates from other courses may get placed based on their skills. Students from B.Sc. rarely get placed, but approximately 100% of students from Sciences got internship opportunities at various research institutions including Sri Vipra (a research unit of Sri Venkateswara College).
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of our college is very good. We have high-speed Wi-Fi across the campus. We have a state-of-the-art classrooms. We have a non-functional auditorium, where the Drama and Dance Society practices, but it is not open to all students. Except for the auditorium, everything is good.
Faculty: Like every college in the University of Delhi, we also have excellent faculty members. They are friendly, interactive, and approachable for students. We are also assigned a mentor with whom we can discuss both academic and non-academic issues.
Other: Our college annual fest, "Nexus" is one of the largest academic fest in North India, usually happens for more than 3 days.

This is the best college of my life for my career.
Placements: Fourth-semester students are eligible for campus placement. The salary package offered is very good, starting from 8 LPA, with the highest salary package being 13 LPA. Top reputed companies have visited our college, and we get good positions in these companies.
Infrastructure: The hostel of our college is very good. The room allotted to us is spacious, with three of us sharing one room. The facilities inside the room are great, and each room has an attached bathroom. The food in our hostel is also good, and the food in the mess is tasty and delicious.
Faculty: This is the best course of my life as I loved it, so I chose it. We have good teaching management in our college, and all the teachers are highly qualified, with some holding PhDas. The teaching methods of our teachers are excellent and easy to understand. We have semester exams.

Academic Excellence and Beyond: Exploring Venky College.
Placements: I haven't heard much about placements since we are in our freshman year but, according to the graduates who have already passed out, introduced to us by the professors, Chemistry has a wide range of applicability and can work in any field. From my observations, recruitment from companies is on a very small scale. Coming to internships, almost 80% of my batch participated in the internship fair out of which almost got a letter of word from different companies. But due to long hours of work and unfavorable timings, most of them drop the internship offers. As I have mentioned, Chemistry has a wide range of applicability and a student can opt to pursue a Ph.D. or MBA. The advantage of pursuing an MBA is that a person learns to manage business with the companies and also pursues his/her Science interest. If a student is more clear on pure Science, it is recommended to pursue a doctorate degree.
Infrastructure: Most of the books are available in the library for B.Sc. Chemistry though some books are in limited amount. The infrastructure of the Chemistry department is average though it would be much appreciated for the authorities to install ACs in classrooms to tolerate this scorching heat. Sports and games are available if one wants to participate in them.
Faculty: The teaching faculty members are good although lacking at some corners but I personally feel it is up to the students to fill the gaps that their teacher leaves behind. The teachers are highly qualified and they know what they are doing. The semester exams were just average, of course if you study, it's at a pretty average level, nothing like rocket Science questions are asked in freshmen years though the review might change in the succeeding years. The pass percentage is about 90%.
Other: The pure interest in Chemistry brought me out here in this burning city to pursue Bachelor's. I was never good in Chemistry which engraved curiosity corners in my mind. I would say the best thing about this course was the professors that made me change the perspective of teacher-student relationship and my batchmates who had a helpful mindset in every instance.

Venky - worth the hype or not?
Placements: In the recent report, on average, 1/5th of the batch sitting for placements gets placed with a median salary of 6 lakhs, and almost half of the batch go for pursuing Masters and further education. Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, etc. are some of the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure-wise, the college is good and is at par with many top colleges. The only missing things are the auditorium (it's under renovation) and AC classrooms. Wi-Fi connectivity is good across all academic blocks, the library is spacious with a reading room, and labs are also accommodating.
Faculty: The faculty is quite good; all professors are well-educated. Though some don't teach in the best way possible, which has now become a universal norm. Many of the readings and books we study in our curriculum are authored by our professors. So, the teachers are highly qualified, with some not so into teaching.
Other: I must say, crowd-wise, Venky is at par with top colleges at DU. The crowd is less politically inclined, and one will find people engaging in all sorts of activities ranging from academics to extracurriculars to sports and NCC. The college has 20+ societies that one can be a part of. Many of these are really active and keep organizing different events, talks, and whatnot.

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2027

Good faculty but curriculum could be better, placements are decent but infrastructure can be better.
Placements: As far as I know, around 30-40% of the students from the B.Com program get placed with an average salary of 6.5 LPA. But people have also gotten 15-16 LPA, which is the highest. The lowest must be around 3-4 lacs. The recruiting companies that I know of for the pass-out batch were Deloitte, Wipro, United Airlines, and AON.
Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi and AC labs, but the classrooms don't have AC. They are normal classrooms only. The library is good, but we only have AC in the reading room, and the AC does not even work very well. My friends who live in the hostel have told me the food has actually been quite decent, and they have a lot of sports and fun there.
Faculty: The teachers are genuinely very good. They make us understand everything very nicely. The curriculum is liked by all of us except for Hindi. We have to study Hindi in the first year as well as the second, which is just a waste of time. The B.Com program students don't get an option to study economics, which I think is wrong. The level of the exams is okay. They're neither very tough nor very easy.
Other: I chose B.Com because I am in love with my stream, and I also want to do CA along with it. I would like to remove at least one Hindi and study economics instead. The college life is definitely good. You meet all kinds of people and interact with a lot of new people as there are a lot of fests and events at the college.

Venky is the topmost college from South Campus and better than some colleges in North Campus too.
Placements: For science courses, placements are not available. Opportunities exist mainly for commerce students, so as science students, we are not provided with work opportunities after graduation; instead, we must pursue post-graduation or other options based on our interests.
Infrastructure: The labs do not have up-to-date equipment; they are very old and do not function properly. The classrooms are quite small with poor ventilation. However, the library is good and large, containing all the prescribed books in their latest editions. The canteen is overpriced, and the food is not satisfactory.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified and teach us well, using real-time examples. They also provide career guidance. The curriculum is good, as it covers most of the entrance exam syllabus, and practicals are held regularly. The mid-sem exams are a bit tough, but the semester-end exams are easier.
Other: The college infrastructure is decent, with a well-maintained sports ground, although the sports equipment is old and limited in quantity. The crowd is decent, and the environment feels safe. Multiple fests are organized by various societies apart from Nexus, which are equally enjoyable.
