On July 2, 2022, the government of Karnataka issued a notification conferring the status of a University on the college under the RUSA 2.0 Scheme of the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) by the St Joseph’s University Act, 2021. It officially upgraded from St. Joseph’s College to St. Joseph’s University on September 27, 2022.
