Getting admission to St. Michael College of Engineering and Technology (SMCET) is moderately competitive, based on the course and the eligibility of the applicants.1. Eligibility criteria: To get admission in B.E. or B.Tech., a student needs to pass the 12th standard with core subjects in physics, chemistry, and math. A good mark in these subjects can make the student eligible to go through the TNEA counseling process.2. TNEA Counseling: For the large majority of candidates, admission is determined by their rank in the TNEA merit list that is issued based on marks in relevant 12th standard subjects. TNEA is a centralized counseling system, so candidates with higher marks are likely to have greater possibilities for admission, although the competition profile is not consistent every year.3. Course Demand: Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, for example, may be highly sought-after, thereby presenting more competition to attain a seat at SMCET. Conversely, courses less in demand may show relatively easier admission lines.Students who perform better in school and whose choice of course is also in demand tend to face higher cut-off ranks in the TNEA process.
