Xavier will make you a multitasker and a very hardworking student.
Placements: Those who applied for placement cells got jobs in good companies. For internships, 80% of those who applied were chosen. For my course, mostly HR positions were offered. I never did an internship, so I have no idea about the companies.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure was the best thing about the college; they had all the facilities except AC: labs, libraries, projectors, etc. everything was provided. Students have access to sports rooms, girls common rooms, and many other societies with personal rooms. In the case of hostels, I have no idea, but in the college canteen, food was cheap and good. Xaviers is known for its sports facilities.
Faculty: Teachers were highly qualified and knowledgeable; they were graduates of the best colleges with the best degrees, and they were very helpful too. Teaching quality varied with the teacher's ability to interact. Yes, the course was relevant for academically driven students. Exams were extremely difficult, with a 90% pass percentage.
Other: The course was very interesting, with an amazing syllabus planned for UG. The dissertation was the best thing about the course. Events, fests, and societies are the best part of college because academic life is too hectic.

It is a dream college to pursue your interests with the best experiences in life.
Placements: Around 70 students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered is around 1.5 LPA, the lowest salary package offered is around Rs. 20,000 per annum and the average salary package offered is Rs. 45,000-50,000 per annum. Top recruiting companies for our course are Nescafe, Reliance, Digital India, Telecommunication, Human Resource Management, etc. Around 45% of the students got an internship from our course in companies like Nescafe, Tata and Reliance. Top roles offered in our course are in human resources.
Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi, but we have to pay for it monthly. Labs are very big, with many facilities, and classrooms are huge enough with many benches. SXC got an external public library outside the college campus which is included in the infrastructures of SXC. We have a very big college playground with a separate basketball court. We also have a canteen with delicious food, but the price is a bit higher. Medical facilities are taken care of by a separate department of the medical team in our college. Our college hostel is very neat and clean with all the basic necessities.
Faculty: Teachers are well-educated and talented to teach us. They all are well-knowledgeable, and they teach with perfection. Sociology makes students and public awareness of the issues relating to social changes in economy, politics and also in our culture. It is very much relevant.
Other: The best thing about our course is that it helps me to become a better person. My perspective about my life and vision changed completely after studying sociology. I think sociology must evolve with time and space. It can surely adjust to society and human beings around in our daily lives. I think the course should have a broad outlook on society. SXC gives abundant fests, events and scholarships to the students. Studies go alongside with extracurricular activities. There is entertainment on the college campus with a good crowd and connectivity among students of different departments.

Study here for the faculty and course curriculum.
Placements: Placements for sociology are a little on the down side, companies do come and open profiles to all departments but the job profile centers usually around business analytics and similar fields. But one can always sit for the interview process. Most people usually opt for Masters after a B.A. in sociology, there's no guarantee about the placements for the course in St Xavier's.
Infrastructure: It has all the basic facilities available to students. There's free Wi-Fi for students who want to avail it and perfectly equipped Labs on the top floor. It has also a recording studio and editing lab for The mass communication students. The library is well stocked and is advanced in it's working. You can just scan your id and issue a book. Strict discipline is encouraged in the library. There's a game room where students can play TT, Carrom and a sports equipment room. It has two football fields and a basketball court. It also has a stationery shop which does all the photo copies. There's an infirmary on the top floor and all classrooms are equipped with projectors and screens. Canteen food is good and reasonable and almost offers all of the local delicacies. However, the games room could definitely use more games and recreational tools. It also has a separate common room for girls.
Faculty: The teachers in the sociology department are extremely qualified, and knowledgeable. They have great information about the subject and teach sincerely. However, some portions of the curriculum are repetitive, we tend to learn similar things sometimes over different semesters. There's a dissertation in the third year which one has to complete. The classes are very interactive, but more of audio visual tools could be used. There are 5 teachers for a batch of about 60 students. It's a theory based course so there's not much industry exposure.
Other: St Xaviers is located possibly in the best are of Calcutta, park street. Both the front and back gates open in nice areas and there are plenty of places for students to spend time at. It has one major fest called xavotsav which happens usually in January and small departmental fests too. It also organises some international level management conclaves. There's a social service department where students can join and help the needy and it also encourages sports by helping students out in their balancing of college and sports. However the sports department could be expanded more. College has a minimum 75 percent attendance rule and they are very stringent about it. It is also very big in discipline.

It is definitely the second home.
Placements: There are no many placements for B.A. graduates. However, there is a placement cell which is very active, and one can enrol their name there. We have to wait for the companies to come and hire the students. The placement opportunities were higher for other departments. But for us, we had opportunities too, might not be a lot but we did have some.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was at its best. Each and every facility was available to us, students. The classrooms were beautiful, neat and tidy with projectors and blackboards. Canteen served the most-tasty and healthy food. I didn't face any trouble during the 3 years in the college. The campus is sprawling and beautiful.
Faculty: The teachers are the best and most valuable asset of the college. Our sociology professors were definitely the best among them. They are extremely qualified. They taught us most amazingly and interestingly. They were super friendly, and we could contact them for anything related to the course or personal issues, anytime.
Other: Xavotsav is the best fest ever.

It is an extremely good college, with all the facilities.
Placements: We have a placement cell in our college, with a lot of companies coming in for campus drives. I haven't yet appeared for any of it due to personal reasons. But apparently, the placement percentage is very good in our college. Every year, many companies come here, and a lot of students get placed. Recently, the placement cell organised a seminar on employability and soft skill development, which was really useful.
Infrastructure: Our college has extremely updated facilities in terms of labs. The canteen food is pocket-friendly, and all basic amenities are available in our college. The classrooms have AC. We have everything that we need. The facilities that our college provides are top-notch. The hostels are really well maintained, with separate hostels for men and women, and they are not far from the college, which is great.
Faculty: We have the best teachers in our college. They make our course worth learning and loving. We enjoy attending classes because of such good teachers. The course is also student-friendly. They focus on presentation and showing movies to students sometimes to go beyond the traditional textbook style teaching. It's really a pleasure to go to classes because the professors make sure that the lectures are interesting and we are taught more than what the course suggests.
Other: Xavotsav is Kolkata's biggest college festival. Each department has their own inter and intra-college fests.
