The following is a brief outline of the general admissions process for the various tests.NEET (National Eligibility Entry Test): NEET is the main exam for medical and dental courses. The cutoff depends on the category (General, OBC, SC/ST etc.) with a higher cutoff for general category candidates. Pruning varies from year to year. It depends on the difficulty level and number of applicants. For example, the NEET UG cutoff in 2023 ranges from the 50th percentile for the general category to the 40th percentile for SC/ST.JEE (Joint Exam): JEE Main and Advanced are optional exams used for admission to undergraduate engineering courses. JEE Main selection criteria vary every year. But it's generally between 85 and 90 percent for top colleges. The advanced cutoff for JEE IIT is more competitive. They usually must rank below 10,000CAT (Common Entrance Test): CAT criteria for MBA programs vary depending on the institute. Top IIMs generally require 99+ percent marks, while other reputed institutes require a 99+ percent score. About 85-90 percent of the score may be deducted.CLAT (Common Law Entrance Test): The CLAT cutoff used for law school admission depends on the participant's college. While top NLUs generally have between 100-200 rows cut off, other law colleges Between 500 and 2,000 rows may be pruned.GATE (Graduate Eligibility Test in Engineering): GATE cut off for entry into M.Tech program varies from branch to branch and institution to institution. In general, Top institutes like IITs are around 500-600 positions and slightly higher for specialties.
