In order to prepare well for the SET exam, first you should be aware about the syllabus. There are totally 150 questions and the students are asked to complete the test within two and half hours. The five areas of the question are

In order to prepare well for the SET exam, first you should be aware about the syllabus. There are totally 150 questions and the students are asked to complete the test within two and half hours. The five areas of the question are
English
Quantitative
General awareness
Analytical Reasoning
Logical Reasoning
Second, Time management is of utmost importance. Calculate the estimate time you are giving for preparations and divide it equally as per the syllabus. Adjust your time and try to solve each question within the prescribed timing. Make a suitable time-table for preparation as per your routine and include short breaks between the longer study periods. Divide the preparation in several steps and complete them one by one. Next, you can prepare for this exam by referring to the previous year's question papers. Mock tests are also a good way for preparations of the exam. Last but not the least, Practice is the key to success. The more you practice, the more are the chances of success.

The confirmed dates of the exam are not out yet, but tentatively the online registration starts in the month of January-February and the exam takes place in the month of May.

The IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. The IPS service is divided into various functional departments such as Crime Branch, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Home Guards, Traffic Bureau. In order to be eligible for the exam, one has to be a graduate in any stream from a recognized University and should be an Indian citizen. Other eligibility criteria includes:
1. Age: Minimum age 21 years, Maximum age 30 years as on 1st of August in the year of examination.
2. Physical Criteria for women: Minimum height- 150cm, minimum chest girth- 79cm, Myopia (including cylinder) should not exceed minus 4.00D, Hypermyopia (including cylinder) should not exceed plus 4.00D
3. Maximum Attempts: General category candidates-4 attempts, For SC/ST candidates: No restriction, For OBC candidates: 7 attempts
