5 Ways to Study to Remember Everything for JEE/ NEET
Read multiple times [with learning assessment]
Learning through writing. Revise as many times as possible. Test yourself in an exam stress environment. Mentally prepared for the exam day. Revise regularly
Never wait for the last-minute revision of the syllabus you covered for the exam. Regularly revise what you have studied and check your preparation level by taking tests. If you keep revising the topics and concepts weekly or fortnightly, you can save a lot of time for the final revision.

It really doesn't matter at all. With experiences of interviews at various PSUs, and IITs, I have came across a lot of people, who tried hard, time and again, to finally seize what they wanted out of GATE. The matter of the fact is, You must justify your stand of taking a 1-year gap. It is because, once you get through with the written exam with great ranks, what awaits you next is something, where you as a person, are judged. Once you give grounds for what you wanted, you can rise better. So, All the best !
