The UBDTCE has a longstanding legacy in education. The college began with just one undergraduate branch in Civil Engineering in 1951. Separate hostel for boys and girls. The boys hostel has two independent blocks which can accommodate 350 students. The room rent and service charges are nominal. The mess for both the blocks is running on dividing system. Admission is not possible directly in University B.D.T College of Engineering; instead, admissions are substantially done through the CET conducted by the Government of Karnataka.
